" Yes, this place isn't creepy, " Simon muttered as they all trudged out of his van. " Not at all. "

" Don't tell me you're afraid, " the girl who Nyx learned the name of Isabelle, joked, a smile on her flawless face.

" Are you kidding me, I was born afraid, " Simon scoffed, then frowned as he realized what he had just said. " Which sounded a lot better in my head. "

" Lets check it out, " the guy, who Nyx also learned by the name Alec, said, making the two shadowhunters follow him leaving Nyx looking out for Simon and Clary.

Nyx kept guard while Alec talked to Jace, eyes scanning the thick, dark forest for any sign of intruders. This day only reminded her of the fatal day about two years ago, where she was attacked and given those horrible scars and was reminded that being weak was not an option, she had to be ready for anything and everything.

// Flashback //

Nyx was walking through the dense, woods, the full moon seemed to be her only source of light in the dark forest. Her phone had died a couple of minutes ago, leaving her wandering through until seeing signs of being back in the city.

She would never have admitted it but she was afraid, not of the dark, or the woods, but what lies within those very woods. She had heard a wolf howl earlier and the continuous snapping of twigs and the rustling of leaves didn't make this situation any better. The only reason she was in the woods in the first place was because she had to meet her elite team for a meeting and their usual headquarters was being rebuilt after it had been destroyed by a band of traitorous agents carrying bombs on a suicide mission. Now she had lost her usual path and the light had disappeared long ago, leaving her wondering and hoping she would find her way out soon, because if she wasn't killed there, her mother would have her head for being out this late, she was a minor after all, turning eighteen in a couple of weeks.

A twig snapped right behind her, making her whirl around, but seeing nothing but pitch black and the dark leaves of trees. Turning her head again, she gasped at the sight of a huge black wolf, it's emerald green eyes piercing her own as it growled lowly, crouching, ready to attack.

Nyx stood still, knowing that if she moved, she may as well have signed her own death sentence. Holding her hands up in surrender, she took several deep breaths to calm herself seeing as the wolf was slowly moving out of it's defensive state, but as she stepped at a twig she never saw, the wolf jumped and attacked.

Nyx dodged the wolf's attack and turned around, running as fast as she could to try and get away from the rabid animal but it caught up with her easily and jumped straight at her back, making her grunt as she fell face first into the dirt, hitting her head so hard that she blacked out for a couple of minutes before waking up to the most excruciating pain she had ever felt. Her back was in total agony and the wolf was long gone by then.

// Flashback over //

Nyx always wondered why the wolf didn't kill her, why it just left her there bleeding heavily for the marks it had distributed, she often wondered if it didn't even mean to kill her, just mark her, to make a point out of it maybe, she never knew.

When she had woken up in the hospital lying on her stomach, she couldn't remember what had happened but then Luke explained that she was attacked by a rabid animal and that he had found her on the side of the road as he was driving back from work. Nyx didn't think any of it but somehow, she knew that he was lying, he was hiding something from her, and she was too, but they never knew.

It was true that she didn't remember what had attacked her when she had woken up at the hospital, but what she didn't tell her mother, Luke and her sister was that she had a dream, more like a nightmare really, when she had relieved what had happened that night in the woods and remembered every single detail of that night. She kept it to herself thinking that if she ever told anyone, they wouldn't believe her, why would they anyway, there hasn't been any signs of wolves in decades.

" Come on it's clear, " Jace's voice snapped her out of her thoughts, following everyone as they walked, Jace began to explain things about the Silent Brothers to Clary, to hopefully make her rethink her choice seeing as she had a high chance of not surviving.

" You have to understand, The Silent Brothers aren't like us, " Jace said to Clary as they walked side by side towards the entrance to the City Of Bones.

" They lack your charm and people skills? " Clary asked, making Jace chuckle but gets serious again, there was no time to kid around, especially when what they were about to do could potentially go wrong and kill the red head that had been having any sort of contact, i.e the visions she is getting whenever she touches the necklace that was given to her from her mother. It could very well lead them to Valentine and the Cup.

" Brothers communicate without using words, using only their thoughts, " Jace added on, seeing the entrance in the distance.

Nyx then tuned out everything being spoken by the blond, having no interest seeing as he's just talking about things she already knew and besides, there was no way she would let her sister go in first, Nyx would get her memory back first and hopefully that would trigger Clary's to come back so that she wouldn't have to experience her head being looked into while a sword dangled above her head.

The City of Bones was in view. The six people began walking in their direction. All, well all expect Simon hoped to get answers that would lead them a little closer to finding The Cup and to just get this over with. Nyx wasn't in the mood for another war, not when she had been in one along with her team mates in New York a couple of months ago. That battle had definitely changed things, maybe even ended the world.

This, this is the new world.
