"You wouldn't happen to know where my phone is, would you?" Nyx asked Magnus as soon as he entered her cell. She was leaning against one of the stone walls, her eyes glued to the only window in the room. The scenery wasn't anything impressive, just a wall covered by overgrown roots and dirt. She felt something being thrown at her and she unconsciously caught it without looking, too many thoughts running through her head to make sense of anything real at the moment.

"Why did you do that?" Magnus asked, hearing the cell door slam shut behind him. Quickly putting up a spell, he allowed a thin shimmery mist to cover the room, not wanting anyone to hear their conversation.

"Isabelle's innocent, she didn't deserve getting arrested or even the chance of her runes being stripped. She got pulled into this mess because of my sister and me, the least I could do is admit to something I did, that she didn't do," Nyx answered, finally turning her head so that she was looking at Magnus while she explained her reasoning. Magnus only sighed and sent her a small smile, finding her admirably brave, yet stupid nonetheless.

"Well, Isabelle's case was easier than yours, you being arrested before now doesn't help our case here," he chuckled, conjuring up a couch and coffee table as there wasn't any furniture in this cell. Even American cells had a bed, seems the Shadowhunters are still stuck in the stone ages.

Sitting down, Nyx also chuckled and allowed herself to lean back to try and relax. Her hand was clutching her side, keeping pressure on the wound and also giving herself a sense of comfort.

Magnus observed for a second. He saw the ashy pale complexion, the sweat that lined her face and neck, the bags under her eyes and most importantly, the black veins that stained her arms and neck. His eyes wandered down to her hand and saw how hard she was clutching her side and caught the blood that stained her palm. Immediately standing up, he hurried to her side and gently removed her hand away from her side, and then peeled her shirt up to her torso.

"Who did this to you?" Magnus asked with clenched teeth, worry bleeding through his anger. Chuckling, Nyx tiredly leaned her head back further into the couch, suddenly too tired to say anything. The room was spinning and her head was killing her. Not to mention, she felt as if she was burning inside out. She wondered if her blood was boiling-- that phrase had to come from somewhere, right? It couldn't just be a figure of speech.

"You wouldn't believe me if I told you," Nyx said, her voice fragile. Magnus extended his hands, blue magic ghosting out of his palms. The Morgenstern shivered as she felt his magic on her clammy skin, feeling the effect it had on her wound.

"Try me," Magnus dared quietly, concentrating on healing her wound. He subconsciously waited for her reply but realized that he wasn't going to get one. She had lost consciousness.  Putting more force behind his magic, he tried to heal her faster. Once he was satisfied by how her wound healed, he took a closer look towards the blackened veins on her neck, tracing over some of them with his fingertips.

"What are you?" He muttered distractedly, using his magic to try and clear the inky black color but finding that nothing worked. He had some idea as to what could cloud her veins like that, but it wasn't anything good. He just hoped it wasn't what he was thinking. He remembered someone in his past who showed similar symptoms to Nyx and remembered his painful life. He really hoped Nyx didn't undergo what he thought she did.

"You need a breath mint," Nyx commented, her eyes fluttering open, uncomfortable with how close Magnus was to her.

Bursting into a fit of laughter, the warlock leaned back away from her, giving her space to fully come to her senses. He rubbed his hand down his face and discreetly checked his breath, wanting to see if he did need a breath mint. Nyx caught his actions and instantly laughed at him.
