Nyx angrily punches a punching bag, her knuckles bruising and splitting due to the fact that she wasn't wearing any protective tape over her knuckles. The mission she and the team were supposed to complete turned out to be a massive trap. The place was booby trapped with explosives and poisonous gases, they barely made it out alive.

Everybody on her team already left to their homes, exhausted and wanting nothing to do but sleep, leaving her alone in the quiet base, punching the living hell out that bag. A couple more minutes, the bag was thrown off the hook and landing to the ground with a loud thud, her heavy breathing following after. Her phone rang, Nyx walked over to the table holding her weapons and phone and saw that her mom was calling.

" Hey mom, what's up? " Nyx asked, trying to slow her breathing so her mom wouldn't suspect anything. Nyx looked at the time to see that she has only an hour and a half to meet Clary at Pandemonium, she hurriedly got her things while holding her phone between her shoulder and ear.

" Hey sweetie, I was wondering when you'll get home, you're later that usual, is everything alright? " Nyx smiled slightly at the care in her mother's voice, she'll never get used to hearing her mom worry when she's not home on her usual time on arrival.

" Everything's fine mom, I just got held up but I'm on my way right now okay? " Nyx chuckled, getting onto her motorcycle and turning on the engine, her black aviator sunglasses on seeing the afternoon sun blazing in her eyes.

" Okay, well, when you get home, you me and Clary have some important things to talk about okay? I love you, " her mom said, a smile etched onto Nyx's face, something that rarely happened.

" I love you too, " and with that, she shut her phone off and drove out and away from the secret headquarters she and her team meet together at to discuss missions.

30 minutes later, she was climbing up her window, silently entering her room before storing away all her weapons back in place and changing out of her suit, leaving her in the sleeveless top and shorts she had on. She then jumped out the window again and got to the front door, making it seem as if she just walked in.

" Hey Dot, " Nyx waved at the woman before going up the stairs to see her mom pacing the floor, looking very conflicted and frustrated.

Jocelyn Fray looked up as she heard her eldest daughter entered and greeted her, looking confused and a little bit worried. Jocelyn contemplated whether or not she should tell Nyx about the shadow world, that she would put the burden of the dangers of her world on her shoulders so she could protect herself and Clary better. It wouldn't take Nyx that much time to learn about the shadow world to be able to handle herself seeing as her job is dangerous enough. Yes, Jocelyn knows of her daughter's job of being basically a master assassin and that she hides loads of weapons under a secret floorboard in her room. She's fine with it, she's actually quite proud because she's like a shadowhunter in some sorts, she kills bad people in order to protect the good, just like Jocelyn, she killed the bad people in order to protect the people she loves.

" Mom are you okay? " Nyx asked her mother, following her as she sat down on the couch then sat down herself, letting her mother take both of her hands with her own.

" Nyx, honey, I regret not telling you this from the beginning but I think now's the right to tell you, " Nyx furrowed her eyebrows, not knowing what her mother was talking about, or hiding about.

" Mom- " she was cut off as her mother started talking again.

" It's time for you to know your true heritage. You're a shadowhunter Nyx, like me, and like Clary. I hid this from you because I wanted you to have a normal life, but I guess you aren't seeing the job you have, " Nyx couldn't help but gasp, shocked. Her mother knew about her job, about her being an assassin. How? She was very careful in hiding what she's doing?

" I've always known about your job Nyxie, and honestly, I'm proud. Sure your taking lives away but you're only doing it to protect people, just like when I'm done explaining everything, you're going to protect Clary from the dangers that lie ahead, " and with that, Jocelyn began explaining everything from the start, about her father, the circle, her heritage, her legacy...everything. Once she was done, Nyx stood up, moving away from her mother after she found out the truth, she was a shadowhunter, half angel, half human.

" How could you hide this from me? From Clary? " Nyx demanded, angry and shocked. Her mother also stood up, guilt all over her face as she tried to approach her eldest daughter, but stopped, hurt after she saw Nyx take a step back, not letting her come near.

" I was trying to protect you and Clary, I never wanted any of this for you or for Clary, I wanted you both to have normal lives, " Jocelyn tried to reason with her daughter but she knew with the extreme anger and hurt all over her daughter's face, she knew it would take a little while until she came around.

" What normal life mom? The part where I kill people for a living or that part where I found out that I had a twin brother who died because of my father? " Nyx shouted, tears began forming in her eyes but she desperately held them back, clenching her fist so tight that blood came out from under her nail where it dug into her palm.

" You know what? We'll talk about this later, with Clary, I have to go meet up with her anyways, " Nyx sighed and shook her head, angrily shoving her hair out of her face as she moved to her room, slamming the door shut and leaning against it, holding her head in her hand as she let out a few traitorous tears. Her whole life, she was lied to, the only question was, why couldn't she remember anything related to this shadow world? She was a hundred percent sure she encountered it a couple of times in her entire life, but, why can't she remember?
