"Of course, you're a busy man," Magnus smiled at Alec, "and I should find this Lydia person, payment upfront is just smart business. Where might I find her?"

"I haven't seen her," Alec answered. "But if I do, I'll send her your way." With that, the Shadowhunter left, leaving a disappointed warlock behind.

Nyx, who somehow missed everything that had gone down in the last couple of hours or so- being occupied in her room doing nothing but lay down in her bed with her eyes closed- caught the look that filtered Magnus's face as he stared back almost longingly for Alec.

"You are trying way too hard," Nyx commented with a slight smile, but her attention was driven elsewhere as Magnus went to retort. There was guy, not a Shadowhunter, that's for sure, and being guarded by a darkly-dressed Shadowhunter. A prisoner- a Seelie prisoner, and judging by Isabelle's expression, she knew him...deeply.

"Meliorn?" Isabelle asked in shock and confusion, not expecting her lover to be here. "What are you doing here?"

"The Clave called me in for some kind of conference," he answered softly. Isabelle smiled slightly and stepped towards him, pulling him to hug he did not respond to.

"I'm so happy to see you," she said into his shoulder with her eyes clothes, breathing in his scent. He smelled of the woods; earthy- like a forest after a shower of rain- and fresh of leaves and pine.

"Spare me," Meliorn pulled away, a hard look on his face to mask the undoubted pain and heartache. "Your fire-message clearly stated that you never wanted to see me again."

"My family..." she tried to explain, but her ex. already knew the answer to that.

"-Despises Downwrlders? That's common knowledge."

"That's not true," Isabelle denied, her dark eyebrow knitted together as she tried to make him understand why she sent the message in the first place. "And even if it were, I'm not like that."

"I'm not here to talk about us," the Seelie finally said, looking over her shoulder as he spotted a blonde lady covered in runes walking towards them. "I believe that's your Clave envoy."

"Isabelle, please step aside," Lydia said, her eyes locked on the Downworlder in front of her. "Meliorn, the Clave has ordered that you'd be placed under arrest."

"What?" Both Meliorn and Isabelle said in shock, not expecting those words to come out of her mouth. Nyx, who was watching silently from her place, slowly moved forwards until she was standing next to the younger Shadowhunter, giving the blonde who was a couple inches shorter than her, a calculating look. The blonde, catching the rd head's intense stare, gulped thickly and looked away, not wanting to display her intimidation for the daughter of Valentine.

"What for?" Nyx asked.

"Soliciting state secrets from a Shadowhunter on behalf of Valentine Morgenstern- your father," she said the last word with visible disgust lacing her objective voice. Nyx rolled her eyes but quickly moved to stand in front of the Seelie as Lydia commanded the guards to take him away.

"You're not touching him until you show me valid evidence that he was fraternizing with the enemy," Nyx told the envoy with steel in her tone. Lydia glared at her, hoping that the red head would look even just a tiny bit frazzled. but she didn't even bat an eyelash, if anything, she smirked. "If that's your idea of glaring, I'd take a look in the mirror; you look adorable." Nobody laughed out loud, but Lydia could see faint smiles and grins hidden by the pursing and biting of lips.

Lydia scowled. "You have no status here, and the only title you bear is the Shadowhunter whose father is a murderer and a war criminal. And looking at your profile, I see that you're following in his footsteps, I might ask the Clave if I would arrest you as well- just as a precaution, of course," Lydia sent a sarcastic smile towards the glaring red head and jerked her head towards the Downworlder, who sent a grateful look towards Nyx for trying to defend him even if she didn't know him.
