Magic High

Chapter 12

I smiled at her and said, "Thanks, Pebbles." She rolled her eyes and laughed at me. Then I looked around and said, "Oh I have an idea, how about we go outside and I explain?" Everyone gives me a curious look and nods. We all walk outside and I say, "The only person's magic I've seen here is Mads' so how about we all use a little magic?" Everyone gets a wide smile and nods. Then Nixon says, "I think we should take this to the garden though." 

We all nodded in agreement and walked to the garden. I looked around and said "Who wants to start?" Rachael steps forward, "Okay I can summon something, but I can't really do anything to show you my other type of magic unless someone lies." Everyone nods. We all take a few steps back as she summons a giant basilisk. Quinn and Maddox's eyes widen in shock where as Gray, Nixon, and I smile widely.

She let it go back and said "That was Ryuu. He's a basilisk. I contracted with him and he's one of my strongest." We all smiled at her, impressed. I stepped forward and said, "I'll go next, Maddox you might remember this one." I proceeded to summon Thansathion. He greeted everyone then looked over at Maddox and asked, "Are you okay,sir? Last time I saw you, you were quite shaken up." Maddox gave Thansathion a small smile, "I'm fine, Thansathion, thank you for your concern." Thansathion gave him a small nod before leaving.

Everyone gave us a questioning look. I shook my head and they all shrugged. I was about to step back when Nixon said, "Hey, hold on, what about the pyro half of you? How's that coming?" I looked down, embarrassed, and said, "Well, I still suck at that." "Let see." I nodded and opened up my hand and then started, "I haven't practiced in awhile so don't judge." Everyone nodded. 

I focused and then created a ball of fire. I threw it up and it exploded like a firework when it got high enough. Nixon wrapped his arms around my shoulders and said, "That was great Velcee. You made progress while I was gone." I smiled up at him then Quinn stepped forward and stated, "I'll go next?" We all nodded and then I saw something that terrified me, everyone was gone, except, him. Why was he here? How did he know I was here? 

Before I knew what I was doing I started to run. I ran into the house and into my room and started crying. Everyone ran into my room a few minutes later. Someone walked over to my bed and picked me up. I tried to get out of their arms until they whispered, "Vel, open your eyes."

I slowly opened my eyes, I say Maddox holding me. I buried my face into his neck and cried. He repeatedly whispered to me, "Shhhh, Vel, it's okay, it was only an illusion." I finally calmed down and got off Maddox's lap. Quinn ran up and hugged me, "I'm so sorry Vel. I use harmonizing magic. I didn't think that would happen. I'm so sorry." "It's okay Quinny." 

Then, Maddox looked at Quinn and said, "You're lucky we aren't going home tonight." and lit a small flame in his hand. Quinn flinched and took a step away. I grabbed Maddox's wrist slightly burning myself. I jerked away from him, grabbing a hold of my arm. Maddox instinctively stopped the flame and ran to get a cold, wet wash clothe. We wrapped it around my arm and held it there. Maddox continually apologized. 

I looked at him and said, "Mads, I love you, but if you keep apologizing, you're going to be Thansathion's new target." As soon as I said that my eyes widened, as I realized what I said. Before anyone could say anything, I ran into my bathroom and locked the door. I curled into a ball thinking, No I can't love him. Velicitee you know what happens when you love. Especially with what's starting to happen. Stop being an idiot. Then there was a knock on the door. 

I, then heard Maddox's voice, "Vel, what's wrong? Will you open the door, please?" I crawled over to the door. I silently unlocked it, and crawled back to my original spot. I heard footsteps come closer to me. Someone sat down across from me. I looked up through my hair to see Maddox. I looked back down.

Next thing I know I was pulled so I was straddling him. I stayed limp as he continues to hug me. Slowly, I wrap my arms around him and bury my face in his neck. He stroked my hair, and started rocking back and forth. "Vel, what's wrong?" I leaned away to look at him, "I can't love you. I just can't. I'll be putting you in danger. And, what happens if I end up going dark. Then, there's no telling when something else could happen." By the time I finished I was looking down. He lifted up my face so I was looking at him, again.

He looks me in the eyes. "Vel, forget all that for a minute. Now, just think about your feelings. Do you love me?" I instantly knew what I had to do. I looked him in the eyes, "No. I don't. I said that in the heat of the moment, because I've always wanted to say that." But, I forgot about Gray and Rachael being able to know when I lie. "Now, why are you lying to Mads. You should know I was going to call you out on this." Rachael stated. I looked back at Maddox. 

He put my face in his hands, "Vel, I understand why you're scared to love. But anything that happens, I will be there for you. I'm going to be by your side whether you like it or not. So you need to stop arguing with yourself and just admit that you love me, because Rache already ratted you out. And I love you too, so you're not getting away from me that easily." I wrapped my rms around his neck and kissed him. Then, I felt tears start to fall. When we pulled away he wiped my tears and repeated, "I love you, Vel." I looked up at Rache, and she smiled and nodded. "I love you, too, Mads."
