Chapter 5: Cali here we come!

GRADUATION WAS A SUCCESS!!! I have never worked so hard for something in my life.

~ The small train station was centered in the small town of Jesup. Nyela & I walked up to the window where and elderly woman was waiting to help us. "hello Ma'am ," I said with a smile on my face, " we need two tickets to LAX station in California." She studied Nyela and I for a few seconds before answering us.

Older woman: You two young ladies aren't running from Jesup are you?

- now this question got me to thinking! I honestly  am running from Jesup! There's nothing here for me! I mean unless I want to be a house wife with 9 kids, which is never going to happen.

Nyela: no, we are actually just going for two weeks to chase our dreams!

Older woman: Well if I was you, I would never come back.........I was around y'alls age when I ran away too. I Didn't go all the way to California, but I sure did run! I ran away with the guy of my dreams. He was my everything but it didn't work out in the end. I moved back to Jesup and I have never left ever since. My advice never go after a man, he will just leave you for dead in a place you know nothing about.

~ well at that point in the conversation I'm freaking out! I mean not only was I going to Cali for the whole "dream chasing plan" but I was also going to see if maybe I could find some guy that was a fine specimen of a man! I mean you can't blame me! Men are definitely my weakness!

Me:  Thanks for the advice ma'am, but I'm going to have to come back if my career doesn't take off!

Older woman: Promise me something pumpkin........Don't go falling in love with any boys there. They are all trouble.

Me: I promise(:

The older woman handed us our tickets after we paid for them.... then she wished us luck.

We had an hour before the train was to arrive so Nyela grabbed her guitar and started to strum

I began to sing price tag, there were other people  waiting for the train and they began to gather around. We threw the guitar case on the ground to see if we could get money.... Nyela began to put her own rap in there because well she's a rapping master! No lie she can do the damn thing!

As people were crowding around and singing a long, you  would just get the best feeling in the world! To see peoples faces light up and sway back and forth in unison just gives you this feeling of joy. All these people were standing near each other two seconds ago and not even glancing in their direction and now they are laughing together, and talking. As I sang the chorus one last time, I looked over to the window of the train station and there was the grey haired woman staring back at me.

Claps and laughter surrounded Nyela and I, people began to throw money into the case and wish us luck. To my surprise I began to hear the whistle of the train and that's when I knew that my life was finally going to begin. I was no longer being dragged around the country! I got to choose where I wanted to go, not my parents!

We boarded the train, Nyela and I took our seats and began to glance out the window at the life we were leaving behind.

Me: Are you nervous!?

Nyela: Honestly?...........Yeah just a little...... I mean what if it all doesn't work out? We will end up like the old woman, and we will be all alone in a town that we will never escape from.

Me: look I promise you that wont happen to us! We got to give it our all! I mean did you not see those people out there? Did you not feel that adrenaline? I mean they loved it, I believe in us!

Nyela: your right Dev. I'm sorry its just well we are going to a huge city that we know nothing about and you just suppose people are going to accept us? We are going to stick out like a sore thumb if you ask me.

Me: Don't worry Nay we will be fine....We have money...... wait! speaking of money. How much did we get from that crowd?

(Nyela opened her case and started counting just then we came across a 50$ bill)

Nyela: Holy shit is that a fifty? My gosh its beautiful!

Me: wow! who would give us a fifty dollar bill?? That is a lot of money to be putting in someone's guitar case! Don't you think?

Nyela: maybe they just really enjoyed us.....?

Me: I guess so that was really generous of them.

The rest of the train ride was full of talking and sleeping......From there we got on another train in Colorado that took us straight to LAX Station.

As we got off the train I began to look around . It was one of the most amazing places I've seen..... you could just smell the ocean water. The breeze from the ocean waves just surrounded your body & I knew that I would never want to leave

LAX already started to feel like home!

We walked up to the taxi and drove away, watching the scenery pass by the windows of the car...............................................................................................
