The girl in the small white house

And so Ashley, her brother Jackson and dad Adam left London. They were planing to stay one week at granny in Bibury. Granny was as always happy that they're coming.

Ashley's pov

We were in the car for like one and a half hour. It was getting boring even thought we spoke and laughed a lot.
I loved looking out of the window. I know the way to granny's house so well that I could drive half asleep from London to there... Even though I don't have a driving licence.
Jackson was asleep. He's so cute when he sleeps!

Daddy said: "Hold on sweety. We'll be there in ten minutes." "Yay!" I was excited.

~10 min. later~

Finally! We arrived at granny's house. She was waiting for us. I ran to her and she huged me. It felt like... My mom.
I almost cried but I stopped the tears from falling. It was hard but I did it.
Daddy took Jackson and his bag then he said: "Ash! Come get your bag!" "OK daddy!" I went to the car and took my bag. Just as I was taking the bag out of the car, I saw a girl. She was hiding in a window of a house opposite of granny's. It was a small white house.
She was looking at me. I was looking at her.
I closed the car door and ran to daddy. He locked the car. I turned around to look at the girl one last time but she was gone. 'Weird... Maybe we could be friends...'

Granny's pov

They have arrived. I was so happy seeing my son, grandson and granddaughter. They all looked so happy, and they felt so too.
I entered my house. They came after me.
"Make yourself at home. Because this is your second home and you can come here whenever you want." "Thank you granny. We missed you." Said Ashley. She really grew up from the last time I saw her. She's so beautiful like always. And her brother... A cupcake!
"You want coffee?" I looked at Adam "I'll do it." "Oh no. You don't have to. It's my house." "You said it's our second house too. Now sit down and relax. I'll make us coffee."
Well my son is an angel. Where was I...? Oh right.
"So Ashley," I said caressing her hair "you are four now-" "I'll be five soon." "Yes. Your a big girl now. So you may have seen a girl in that house over there." I pointed on the house opposite of mine "Yes, granny. She saw me too." "She is four, too. Her name is Lauren. She is so kind. Like you. I think you two have much in common and you should try talk to her. But you have to make the first step because she's a little shy at first." "OK granny. I think I would love her to be my friend." Said Ashley with a happy face.
"Here comes the coffee!" "It better be good." I said with a playful voice.
Ashley took her bag and pulled out her book.
"What do you have there?" I asked her "My favourite book!" "Ooh, so you love to read too? That's great. That girl Lauren has a big bookshelf of different stories..." "I can't wait to meet her. How about now? She's playing outside." "Sure, go and play with her dear. But be careful..." "I will." Said Ashley while closing the door "And don't go on the road!" Added Adam loudly so she can hear him. "Don't worry son, she knows what she's doing."

Ashley's pov

I went out to see that girl. She was playing alone. She had two long black braids and a nice red dress. In her arms was a ball, white with pink dots. She had red cheeks and green eyes.
"Hello. I'm Ashley. You must be Lauren. Nice to meet you." "How do you know my name?" Said Lauren with a soft and warm voice that was gorgeous to listen to. "My granny told me. She says that you are very kind and beautiful." Lauren blushed "And I think that too. So do you wanna play?" "Yeah... Sure... You like football?" "Yes. My favourite. I also like basketball." "Wow me too!" said Lauren loudly. Then blushed again because she's usually not that loud.
I was playing so many games with Lauren. I never felt like that. I finally had a... A friend.
We laughed and ran and jumped and talked all day. She's such a nice friend.
I saw daddy looking out of the window to see if I'm OK and I just gave him thumbs up. I never felt better.
Lauren, later, showed me her dog. It was a small golden Pomeranian. His name was Boo. I liked that name... I don't know why.
I had so much fun with my new friend that I totally forgot the time. Granny called me to get into the house cause it was eight o'clock, but it was still sunny.
After I washed my hands and changed into my pyjama, I told them everything that happened.
My brother was already sleeping and I was sleepy too. I went to a room upstairs to sleep there. It was nice and cozy.

I woke up so relaxed that I could run a marathon!
For breakfast we had eggs and bacon and I drank a glass of milk. Jackson ate baby food, I think it was made of bananas and apples.
I saw Lauren outside with her mom and dad and her dog too. They were going somewhere. Then I remembered... She told me that they're going on the beach this morning.
I ran out just like that in my pyjama and waved at her.
"Lauren! Have a nice time! See you!" "Bye Ashley!" she said waving from the cars window and disappearing behind a hill.
I went back in and finished my breakfast. It was really good.
I helped granny to clean the table up and then I played with Jacky. He was in a good mood today, as usual...
Granny then asked me if I want to make cookies with her. "Yes!" That was my answer. But granny didn't have any chocolate.
What's a cookie without chocolate? The answer? Nothing.
Daddy said he'll go and buy chocolate and he needed a new bottle for Jackson because he threw it in the trash can and no one noticed. Later granny took out the trash and the bottle with it too.
So daddy went to the store.
Meanwhile, me and granny were making lunch. Potatoes. Potatoes with chicken. Mmmmm... Delicious!

...We were cooking when I suddenly turned around and saw that Jackson wasn't there...
