The morning of the Reaping I woke up earlier then normal. The day where I would be sent back to the Capital. The place where the death holes are. The day I found out if Peeta was going back in with me or if he was going to be a mentor. I would rather him be a mentor than be back in the arena.

Getting ready for the Reaping is depressing. You're getting all dressed up to go meet your fate. For me, I knew what my fate was and it was bad. No one would be able to volunteer in my place. I had to go back and I had to win.

Standing back on that stage in front of all of District 12 was awful. The pit in my stomach grew and grew. Everyone looked somber from Effie, to Haymitch.

Effie, with tears already in her eyes walked to the female tribute bowl and pulled out the singulat piece of paper and read the name on it.

"Katniss Everdeen." Her voice almost wavering.

She then walked over to the male tribute bowl and plucked one of the two papers. She then announced who would be joining me in the arena.

"Haymitch Abernathy." I sighed in relief and I could see that Effie was also relieved. Peeta didn't say a word. He didn't even volunteer in Haymitch's place, he just let it happen.

He listened. He went with my plan. He finally realized that this baby needed both of us. And that I needed him. But he looked extremely sad...

The training went by quickly, as well as the opening ceremony where I met Finnick Odair and learned more than what I wanted to about him. I also met Johanna Mason. I would prefer to not talk about how that went though. The interviews were my least favorite. Actually all of it was awful.

Soon enough it was the morning of the games. I felt Peeta beside me. I could hear his soft snores filling the air. I slowly got up as to not wake him and went to take a shower. When I walked out of the bathroom I saw Peeta sitting up panicked looking around for me. He almost immediately relaxed when he saw me. I headed over to him and hugged him tightly and he hugged me back lightly.

"You hungry?" He asked

"Yes!" I answered.

We walked out of the room and headed towards the dining room. I felt like something was off, and not just because it was the day that the games began but because Haymitch was no where to be found. Everyone else was standing around something I couldn't see but I bet Peeta would be able to if he were looking at them.

"Peeta?"

"Yes Katniss. Is something wrong?"

"Yeah I think, but probably not what you think is wrong."

"So I would assume it's not the baby?"

"No it's not but look." I point in the direction where everyones standing.

"Oh. Um..."

"Peeta? Is something wrong?"

"No, no, just go eat I'll be there in a second."

"But..."

"No buts Katniss go eat." I frown and slowly go and get some food. And just as Peeta said he comes over to me. He doesn't seem very happy now.

"Peeta what happened?"

"Nothing, just eat, everything's fine."

Was everything fine? No. But I get why he said it was. He didn't want me to worry. But now I know it was Haymitch they were standing over. He was passed out drunk, which wasn't news.

A few hours later Peeta and I were saying our final goodbyes before I was sent off once again to the games.

Cinna the last person to see me off was beaten by peacekeepers right in front of me. I had about 5 seconds to collect myself before being fully lifted into the arena. It was traumatising to watch. Knowing there was nothing I could do. Especially not now.

It was far too bright, disorientatingly so. Water surrounded me and the other tributes. The Cornucopia sat on a circular piece of land with 12 long strips that went all the way to the main arena.

"Ladies and gentlemen, let the seventy-fifth Hunger Games begin!" Claudius Templesmith announced.

In under a minute the sound of the gong would fill my ears announcing the begining of the games.

The distance between where I was and the strip of land was much further than I was used to swimming and would take adjusting to.
