Chapter 1
The cold air hit me hard as I stepped out the door and the snow was up to my knees. I took a deep breath and pulled me hair back into a pony tail.
I had just come out of Mr and Mrs. Valentines house, whose son, Travis, I volunteered to help with dryg abuse. Incidentally me and him use to play soccer together, and had just gotten in a big fight before I left the house. So much for a smooth first day.
To make things even harder I had a dad, mom and step mom, stepsister, and two stepbrothers. The fact that my dad was to busy with his new family and my mom was on a date, left me stranded in Travis's neighbourhood with out a ride. Forcing me to take the subway.

I don't know how long I walked before I got to the station, minutes maybe an hour. But, right in front of it was a group of drunk guys. Yeah drunk at four in the afternoon. The day just kept getting better and better.
I tried to pass them with out them noticing, but one of them grabbed my hand and pulled me into him.
"Let go," I said. And to my surprise he actually did.
I quickly turned around and ran to the main desk. But before I could get there I heard a loud bang followed my something whizzing by the side of my head.
Before I could turn around to see what it was, the loud bang came again and this time it was fallowed by something piercing through the skin of my right shoulder. Reflexively my hand went to my shoulder were it had started burning, and I fell to my knees.
I took a few shaky breaths and looked behind me to find my dad staring at me.
"Dad," I gasped pulling myself up and shakily running into his arms, but before I got there he pushed me into the wall and held a gun to my neck.
"Dad, what are you doing," I say, paralyzed by the coldness radiating from were the gun and my neck touched.
"I'm doing what I should have done a long time ago," he says and presses the gun into me neck.
"What do you mean," I say, trying to get my breathing under control. "I've never done anything to make you so mad that you'd try o kill. I've always done what you told me to do. I've always tried to be a good daughter."
"Now that's were your wrong. You were never my daughter. Your mother cheated on me with that stupid Bruce Wayne. All my life I loved her and she showed she loved me back by cheating on me," he said, pushing me so hard I los my balance and fell to the ground.
I was about to scream but he shot again, and this time at something behind me. I Got on all fours and tried to find an opening were I could hit him while he was shooting at something else. He shot again, and that's when I went for his knee. Causing him to drop his gun and fall to the ground.
I quickly kicked the gun from his reach.
"Sam," I heard someone from the shadows say," get out of here and call for help," I nodded and that's when I understood whose voice it was. Bruce's! My moms best friend.
I stumbled out the entrance and ran right into to Travis, Causing me to quickly run away and go to the phone booth.
"911 what's your emergency?" said the operator./
"I'm at the down town subway in Abbotsford, my dads trying to kill me, and I've been shot in my right shoulder."
"We need you to stay on-," I cut the phone on her, startled by another gunshot. I stumbled back out of the booth and fell to my knees in the snow, which was now turning red.
"Sam," I heard Travis say," Look at me." I tried to lift my head to meet his brown eyes, but I had nothing left inside me. " I'm gonna go call for help," he said getting ready to leave.
That's when my arms gave up beneath me and I fell into him. " No, don't leave me alone," I whispered and let the darkness I'd been fighting for so long take over.
The last thing I remember was the sound of a gun being shot and Travis saying he wouldn't leave me.
