I wake up to silence. After a week of chaos I have the weekend to relax on. I sighed as I saw sunshine warm my bare arms. I could hear noise coming from he kitchen. It felt like home. But I knew it wasn't. Home was far away. All tat was left was me and my memories.
I stretched and sighed again. Will wanted me to come to his game today.
I got up in a daze and looked at the clock. Damn I only had 5 minutes to get ready. Sh*t.
I took a quick shower and put on jeans and a black shirt. MY hair as always was back in a pony tail and since i was dead straight I didn't' have o worry about i opening. My stomach growled but I had no time for food.
In no time I was otu the door and in he car with Will and Lucy. But no Malcom.
"Were's Malcom?" I asked.
"Practice," Will said lightly. I nodded.
When we got there I sat on far end of the bleachers. Away from Crystal & her friends. Of course she was gonna be here. And if she was here that meant Travis was here. I took a deep breath and sat down. This was going to be one really long game.
An hour later...
"Travis, Travis,Travis..." I could not believe this. He was junior and was captai. WTF. Couldn't they give a chance to a senior who accutually needed a scollership. I got and started making my way thougt the crowd. There were five minutes leftt till tthe game ended. Batemen only needed to get one more touchdown in order to win.
And before I new it there was a football flying towards. It din't mater what way I went it was gonna hit me. I had no choice but to catch. Who ever though that had a good arm but bad aim for sure. I caught it. People were starting to look at me so I quickly through it as hard as I could. It went straigh to Will. Who was on the other side of he field. I looked at him shocked. How the hell did you do that, he mouthed. I just shrugged my shoulders and walked out.
"Were do you think your going?" I heard Aunt Lucy ask.
'I don' know," is said, and went to the food court. I bought medium fries and a hot dog. But it was just to damn loud. And I dose of.
*Flashback*
"Sam, you hold the ball like this," my dad said showing me how to old a football. " Now when I say go, you hit it through that hole " he said pointing at he hoola hoop. I nodded my head and concentrated.
"3,2,1...," and the ball went straight through he hoop. MYm dad didn' believe I did that so I concenrated and through it a few more times. My dad was so happy, he came and picked me up.
" My baby girl has got a good eye and arm," he said. I just looked and laughed not understanding what that meant.
* flashback over*
My stomach heart at the memory of that. I was only ten and my dad treated me like a princess. I get. I hadn't touched any of the food i'd got. I walked over and through it in the garbage. So much for breakfast.
I made my way up he bleacher and sat ne to aunt Lucy. The game was over. Batemen had one. WE were all ustt waiting for hem to shake hands. I was shivering. I was windy and cloudy.
" Lucy, I'm about to command the clouds to disperse," my aunt started laughing at this. THat's exactly what I was expacting o happen. My aunt hadn't laughed even one ever since I'd moved in with her.
" Ready? Ok, I command the clouds to move and let the sun shine," I said with a British accent. Of course nothing happened. But Lucy started laughing harder. I was thing hat I used o do when I was small. I all ways thought I could control nature.
"Sweety, I'm sorry but your British accent really sucks," she says ruffling my hair like she used to.
I giggle as we get up. I didn't' really think what I said was funny. But all that matters is that I got her to laugh.
I run and hug Will . He won his first game. Lucy hugs him after me.
"Who taught you to throw like that?" asks Will.
" My dad." I say lightly.I breath in the earthy sent and it somehow seems to comfort me.
Then screams broke the silence. I ran towards them. Kids were running out of the building towards here parents. Crying. " Save him," I heard some scream. It was a middle aged women on the verge a collapsing. Breaking out of Wills grip I ran into the primary school wing. It was full of smoke. I automatically started to cough.
" Is anyone tere," I screamed. And in answer I got a scream. I ran towards it and saw it led towards a classroom. But the door was covered in flames. Please, please, please help the flames die down. Nothing happened. What did I think I was. A goddess. Instead I took in a deep breath and ran trought the flames. And I saw him. Lying there limp on the ground. The room was full of flames trying o burn me. I ran towards he little boy. I shook him, but he didn't open his eyes. He had a pulse but i was weak.
I took my hoody of and put i over him, then picked him up. He was as light as a feather. I covered his body with mine and ran back through the door. And tats when the anger took over me. Couldn;t atleast one water pipe burst. Damn it. And before I new it the water fountain next to me flew open. I ducked and ran further on. But it was clear I was lost in the smoke. I heard metal break and I was drenched in water again. I ran furher and saw light. I quickened my pace and ran out the door. Bumped right into to someone. It was the same lady who was crying for her son. I put the boy lightly on the ground and looked at him. He had pale white skin that had turned red cause of the heat, his hair were wet and sicking to his face, he had a fragile figure. In a second his mom was over him screaming for the paramedics. I bent over him and put my hand on his for head and whisper in his ear.
"Please open your eyes," I heard someone gasp. I looked up and saw he had opened his eyes. His hand grabbed mine.
" It's you ," he whispered." your the go...," he was cut of by his mother kissing every inch of his face.
My vision got blurry and I felt a strong arm around my waist. I didn't look behind me to see who it was I just pulled away and ran towards Will and Lucy.
" Don't you ever do that again, do you hear me?" said Lucy pulling me into a fierce embrace.
: WIll's face was unreadable.
" Let's go home." he said sternly.
We pulled out of the lot before the cops could question me. And all I could think of was what that boy was about to say.
I played his words over and over again in my head but found no answer.
I put my head against the window and looked out at the changing sky. The clouds had broken apart and the sun was shining bright.
