Cryogenic Overkills

Here's a little headcanon I cooked up that could be one version of a future DESPICABLE ME film with the Overkills in it:

At the end of MINIONS, a young Silas Ramsbottom Sr. comes to collect the Overkills. He's the leader of a new crime-fighting organization called the Anti-Villain League. He informs the police he's in a better position than traditional authorities to keep the Overkills secure. They're happy to be free of the responsibility and hand our precious babies over to Ramsbottom.

At the Australian base, the AVL cryogenically freezes the Overkills, thus imprisoning them for the next forty-plus years.

*pauses for a moment of silence given the angst of such a scenario*

Fast forward to the present day. Agent Lucy Wilde is tasked with recruiting the Overkills for a dangerous mission from which they may or may not survive. Given their skill sets, they're ordered to join a group of villains to battle an even more dangerous villain who has come onto the scene. Kind of like the Suicide Squad premise (hey, it's a great premise!). Since the only other option is to be frozen again, the Overkills agree to join the mission.

They have to fight alongside Gru, so of course there's going to be all kinds of delicious conflict between him and Scarlet. Imagine the acerbic barbs flying back and forth between them while Herb gives Gru all kinds of side-eye. And part of Lucy's thankless job is to help keep the peace in order to complete the mission.

One subplot involves Scarlet trying to steal back the crown. It's not as easy as she thought it would be. Gru catches her time and again, which of course means lots of glaring at each other and also Scarlet's signature grunts of frustration.

There'd be humorous moments as the Overkills discover all the joys of current technology (cue an Overkills selfie frenzy).

A rivalry brews between Herb and Dr. Nefario as they compete to see who can invent the best/most outrageous weapons. At one point, Gru and Nefario look on awkwardly as Scarlet rewards Herb's innovation with all kinds of praise and lovey-dovey attention. Herb, of course, eats it up with a spoon. He can't resist looking over at Dr. Nefario with a sleepy-eyed expression of triumph.

The best parts of a story like this would be discovering the AVL had the Overkills imprisoned all this time and then watching Lucy supervise the process of reviving them. The moment of her locking gazes with Scarlet for the first time would give us goosebumps of epic proportions omfg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By the end, the villain enemy is vanquished and Scarlet finds redemption. And the Overkills live Happily Ever After!
