After Steve and Natasha find out Shield is secretly Hydra, Steve takes them to Sam's house.
The rubble shook as he struggled to move the heavy blocks of cement. His shield scratching its way out of the now caved in building. Steve broke through the barrier, the cool night air conditioned his face that was covered in sweat and debris. His lungs were filled with plaster, and he coughed and gasped to take in any fresh air. Heat from the flames tinged his senses. Immediately his attention was brought to limp, unconscious body next to him. Without even a second thought Steve lifted Natasha into his arms, his shield holding her back. His heart is pounding and his thoughts are cluttering, an engine roaring above them startled his form, instantly moving his head in the direction. Bright lights highlighting the dark ground, the quinjet moves above them. The only movement he made as he bolted out of the crevices. His head craned up every so often to look for the incoming aircraft. He made his way as he spotted the blue Chevy Silverado, he sprinted as fast as he could despite the fact that he was carrying Natasha. Once he made it to the passenger side he placed Natasha's feet down while the rest of her body rested for support on Steve's chest, he feels the shallow beats of her heart. He hears her mumble something under her breath but he doesn't catch it over the sound of his own racing heart. He opens the passenger door and places Natasha down on the seat, he adjusts her so she's somewhat sitting, before he pulls over her seat belt, he then closes the door. He runs to the driver's side and opens the door, and hops in. He quickly shuts the door and places his shield by his legs, then he starts the car, and backs out and speeds away until he reaches a safe distance away, because all he wants to do is get the hell away from here.

The car moved slowly as Steve's eyes glazed over the road the sky still dark as the time neared 2 a.m. Sleep creeping up on him, nudging at his eyes. But he drove on. Natasha's body ached as she soon became conscious, her eyes lifted open as, she was introduced to darkness. She moved her head, that was pounding, a groan exited her lips, as her body stiffened. Her eyes focused on the man beside her
Steve was fully aware that Natasha had woken up, for one she wasn't quiet, and two he saw her eyes open from the corner of his eye. Natasha felt weak all around, her mouth was dry and lips chapped. But she managed to make a soft croak, "St-steve."
The weak call for him, made Steve turn his head to Natasha.
"Yeah," he responded softly while turning his attention to the road again."Where are we going?" Natasha asked, her eyes gliding over his figure.
"Somewhere safe." He responded, eyes never leaving the bare street. Natasha leaned her head up against the seat, arching her back as she takes a deep breath."Safe?" She questioned.
Shutting her eyes because the pain in her body searing up to asha pulls through, trying desperately not to let the pain take over her, and to not show it either. But she manages to bare with it."A friend." His voice is clear in the quiet truck.
"And you trust this, friend."
"Yes."
"Last time something like this happened, Clint and I were in Cairo trying to stop a "contractor" from selling illegal petroleum, the building we were in was trapped with IEDs. The building started to collapse and we had to jump out a window." Natasha said her voice light as she tried to uplift the tone of the ongoing situation. But by the way he ignored that statement and kept his eyes on the road, Natasha took it as it wasn't the right time. She realizes how stupid she was, Steve just learned that everything he fought for was for nothing, "dying" was for nothing. And She musters up her thoughts and is somewhat deluded to the conclusion that she's alive, and probably wouldn't have if it weren't for Steve. Because even though his life is turning upside down, he still puts himself last. Natasha doesn't remember a single time she's spent with the man beside her, where he's put himself first. She fathomed over the words that croaked out of her voice because it was unexpected but needed to be done,"Thank you."
Steve suprised by the sudden gesture, since it's probably one of the first time he's heard her say 'thank you' with pure gratitude, two simple words, yet they held so much meaning. He turned to look at Natasha and their eyes met, and he could tell she was pulling herself together.
"You should get some rest," he said as his attention was once again brought to the road,"We're almost there."
Natasha didn't question the 'there' since she was actually quite tired. "Mm," Natasha turned slightly around, as she closed her eyes.● ● ●
Natasha woke up when she felt a sudden push at her shoulder. She opened her eyes and she was met with a smiling Steve. The passenger door was open for Natasha to get out of the truck. Her body still ached from the initial impact.
"Hi." Steve said as he helped Natasha out of the vehicle.
"Hey." She says dryly. Steve shut the car door,
"Well, we're here."
"Where's here?" Natasha questioned as Steve lead her to the back of a house.
Steve hesitated before answering,"Friends house."
"Are you sure?" Natasha asked unsure of this "friend" because of the ongoing situation.
"I hope so."They reached the sliding door at the end of the house. Steve reached out his hand a knocked on the glass. They stood there, Natasha eyeing the place suspiciously. While Steve waited, both of their faces covered in the gray dust that reminded them of the previous altercation.
The door opened and a man stood in the doorway, Natasha recognized him immediately as the man Steve was talking to, two days ago.
"Hey man." Sam spoke
"I'm sorry about this, we need a place to lay low." Steve explained.
"Everyone we know is trying to kill us." Natasha added.
"Not everyone." Sam said.Wow finally finished this chapter. And yes I did make up my own background story with Clint and Natasha. Also fun fact a scene similar to this was supposed to happen in tws, it made it into the script but was never filmed because it was soon cut. I think there is two more chapters left.
