Around 7:16pm I stopped cleaning, somehow the house didn't feel clean.
It still felt dirty.
Not knowing what else to do to get the house clean, I sighed in defeat and sat on the couch with a bowl of crushed chocolate and ice - scream.
I watched endless cartoons that I would watch when I was young.
But that didn't stop me from thinking about Tyson.
Gosh...if he got hurt...it would be all on me.
My phone rang and I ignored it but it rang again, "Yeah?"
"Hi this is Trisha from The Truth Magazine, can you tell me how it feels to be free whilst you know that a man can die because of you?" she asked so fast, I doubt she even knew what she was saying.
But how did she get my number?
I had no time for gossip lovers.
"No comment and don't call me again," I snapped and hung up.
Seconds later it began to ring again, I looked at the number and groaned.
Some people couldn't just except a simple no.
I switched off my phone grateful for the peace.
Ten minutes later I heard a knock on the door, who would come here after What happened?
"Courtney can you tell me how it felt to stab your own parents?" the voice asked, knocking even louder.
What the hell!
Why why why!
"Courtney I know you're in there I saw you go in," they called."Can you tell us what happened on the night you almost killed your parents?"
Us?
I stood up and walked over to the window and slightly drew the curtains back and gasped in horror.
The press was scattered all over the yard with cameras flashing, they were so many.
When they saw me by the window they all ran over each other wanting to talk to me.
The press was crazy as in full on!
I was certain that every single person was there to get the juice story from me....well they weren't getting anything from me.
The knocking and the shouting was getting super intense.
Out of nowhere I heard the kitchen window break.
They broke the window!
I ran to the lounge, took my phone and ran up to my room locking the door behind me.
I switched on the phone and called Tanya.
Before it even rang, she picked up.
I think she had her eyes glued on her phone incase I called.
Typical Tanya.
"Hey you. I was not eyeing my phone incase you called if that's what you're thinking,", she said laughing nervously.
"Tanya I need you to come and fetch me. I am about to be attacked by the press," I whispered incase someone was under my head. That actually scared me, I bent down to see if anyone was under the bed, I breathed a sigh of relief when I found no one.
"Say no more. Dylan is at the back entrance gate, and yes to answer your question... I told him to watch over you," she said.
I walked up to the door and quietly opened the door, I checked the passage to see if anyone was there.
They weren't - yet.
I used the back door and ran for my life, I found Dylan and jumped into his car.
He nodded and drove as fast as he could.
Thankfully we made it to Tanya's house in one piece.
Tanya met us by the gate and she hurriedly let us in and checked the street to see if anyone was following us.
When it was evident that no one was following us she closed the gate and ushered us inside the house.
"Dylan it was your job to make sure no one disturbed her!" Tanya snarled glaring at Dylan.
Dylan shifted uncomfortably under her glares,"I...you said to watch over her only, nothing else."
I sighed and made my way towards the kitchen and sat down on one of the chairs. The press could be so annoying.
No...the press was scary. They would even sell their own soul just to get a juicy story.
How did even know that I was released from jail?
As far as I was concerned, they weren't supposed to even know that I was alive... After all I had disappeared for a pretty long time, knowing them they probably had people inside the police stations who would tell them if anyone important was arrested.
If they knew what was good for them, they'd better stay out of my life - personal or not.
I was dealing with so much, I was stressed, I was worried about my mom and Tyson, the last thing I needed was the media being all up in my business.
But I knew that they weren't giving up until the got their scoop.
"Hey, wake up. Earth to Courtney." Tanya said waving her hand in my face.
I looked at her and gave her weak smile,"You were saying?"
"Um, can I go home now?" Dylan said adjusting his glasses,"I mean I have been watching over your friend here for hours. I'm tired and hungry."
"Dylan, all you did was seat in your car, and you are tired...wow!" Tanya said shaking her head at him,"And here I thought you were doing this out of the goodness of your heart."
"Tanya you literally forced me to look after her," he whined then he turned to me," No offence but I did not sign up for babysitting."
"She is offended." Tanya snapped answering for me, even though I never asked her to. But I was so tired so I let her continue,"And I am hurt because I thought you were my friend and that you'd do anything for me."
Dylan adjusted his glasses again and sighed loudly, clearly not knowing what to do with the now pissed off Tanya,"When I said I'd do anything for you...I didn't mean it literally I meant it figuratively and - "
Tanya put her hand in his face to silence him,"Now is not the time to go all school on me, you are supposed to be the strong one in this relationship."
Dylan gulped and immediately turned red at the cheeks,"Re...relationship?"
"No Dylan, not that kind of relationship," she said getting annoyed,"You and I can never happen, I mean I don't think of you like that. Anyway what are we gonna do about the press? Courtney any ideas?"
"Hmm?" I said my eyes getting heavy, I put my head on the table and nodded my head whenever Tanya asked if I was listening, even though I wasn't.
I dozed of about five times but Tanya kept on shaking me.
Eventually she gave up on trying to make me Listen to her, she let Dylan go home and he said something about her being so bossy and she told him what a lousy friend he was and mumbled a thank you before kicking him out.
She shook me and I glared at her, she ignored my death looks and helped me upstairs to her bedroom.
As soon as my head hit the pillow I immediately fell into a deep dreamless sleep.
Heeeee lllllll oooooo everybody.
The book has hit 141 reads and I am so grateful. For a book that has only been out for almost a month it's doing pretty well and it's all thanks to my fellow readers.
Now as much as I love writing, I also want to know what you guys think about the chapters.
I know I have said this before but I'm gonna say it again PLEASE FEEL FREE TO COMMENT.
I am going to take the first step by asking you a question.
Question: What do you think Tyson did in order for Courtney to be free?
We know that he gave himself up to the leader of that particular gang...but what did he exactly do? What deal did he make?
Who ever gets the right answer or almost the right answer... I will dedicate a chapter to you.
Take it or leave it...it's your choice.
Good luck and happy reading.
