In the darkest of the night...time stood still{Chapter Twenty - Eight}

Tyson took me to a cabin, when I entered inside, my mouth was literally hanging onto the floor.
From the door all the way to the lounge, there were rose petals scattered.
He took my hand and led me towards the lounge, normally a lounge contained furniture, but all the furniture had been moved.
In the middle of the lounge, there was a blanket with cushions and a lay out of food.
All my favourite food and in the background, soft love songs were playing.
The lights were dimmed, and the candles were lit.
It was the perfect romantic evening.
We spent the whole night talking about sweet nothings.
He was the perfect gentleman.
Unfortunately morning came and I had to go back home.
I didn't want to face aunt Sophia, I knew she would want to know where I was.
So I asked Tyson to drop me off at Tanya's house.
We said our goodbyes and I walked up to the door.
Before I could knock, Tanya opened the door and almost knocked me over and gave me a bear hug.

When she released me her eyes were shining,"Oh my gosh! Girl do you want to tell me why you arrived at my doorstep 6:00 in the morning? And why Mr handsome drooped you off?"
Typical Tanya.
I laughed and walked past her, but she blocked my way, grabbed my hand and gasped, "Girl...what is that big ass rock doing on your ring finger? Oh my freaking gosh...are you engaged?"

"No. This is a promise ring from Tyson," I said smiling at the memories of the day before.

"I thought you two broke up," she began,"Wait...that's a promise ring? That ring is a promise ring? That ring looks too expensive to be a promise ring. You are so lucky, do you know how long it would take for me to buy a ring like that? Do you know how long it would take for people to buy a ring like that? Well let me tell you, it would take forever."

"Tanya slow down girl," I said shaking her shoulders,"It's way too early for so many questions."

"Love, if I arrived at your house with some hunk early in the morning, wouldn't you want to know the juicy details?" she asked, gawking at the ring,"Wow - this is amazing."

"Thank you," I said admiring the ring."So are you gonna let me in or what?"

"What does your boyfriend do for a living?" she asked leading me into the kitchen, "I mean he got to have a really good job if he can buy that kind of a ring."

I had never told Tanya the truth about Tyson, if she knew, she'd be in danger.
You understand the situation.

"Um, he does this and that," I answered,"Besides he comes from a rich family, so money isn't a problem for him."
The family being rich wasn't a lie.
Tyson's family was loaded.
But I didn't date him for his money.
I'm not a gold digger.

"Oooh love, lucky you. Do you know how hard finding a good guy is this days? Let alone a guy who buys you a freaking diamond ring as a promise ring," she swooned,"Don't let people see that ring in the streets, cause they'll rob you blind."

"They wouldn't dare," I said feeling a bit self conscious. I had to change the topic, what if I accidentally told Tanya the truth, she had a way of making people tell the truth,"So how is it going between you and Dylan?"

She gasped in a dramatic way,"Love, don't. Dylan and I can never happen, I mean never."

"But he's cute friend. I think you too would make a nice couple," I said.

"Hell no! That boy is not my type, besides I don't date friends," she sighed,"But if you think he's so cute then you date him and I'll happily date Tyson."

"If you want to keep this
friendship, then I suggest you stop thinking about my boyfriend like that," I said but I couldn't help but laugh at her friends before boys and never date each other's ex look.
My phone rang and I looked at the caller ID, it was my father?

"Daddy?" I said, not hiding my shock,"What...why are calling."

"I am at the hospital - it's your mother," he hesitantly said."She's...dead."
My heart stopped beating.

Tanya drove me to the hospital.
I got out of the car and headed straight to my mom's room.
My father, aunt Sophia and the doctor were standing beside my mother.
Aunt Sophia was crying uncontrollably.
My father just stared at my mom his eyes distant.
I made my way to my mom's side, I took her hands into mine, they were so cold.

"Mom, please no," I cried kneeling down,"No! No, oh God please no, please don't take her. Mom you can't go, not now please please, I'm begging you."

This was not happening.
She couldn't die, she just couldn't.
She was a fighter, she couldn't give up.
I got to my feet, walked up to the doctor and grabbed his  collar,"Please save her, maybe if you use those shocking things she'll wake up. Don't just stand there, please I am begging you."

He removed my hands from his collar and looked at me with pity,"I'm very sorry, but she's dead, there's nothing I can do."

"You are a doctor, you are supposed to make people better!" I yelled tears running down my face like a waterfall."Dad do something, please you can't let her die."

I started shaking my mom, but she wouldn't wake up.
Her lips were blue - death blue.
Her eyes were closed, she was just laying there.
Not breathing.
I shook her even harder,"Please wake up please wake up please wake up please wake up."

"Courtney stop it," my father said his voice breaking. Pulling me away from my mother,"She's dead. Okay? She's dead."

I shrugged his hands off, but he was too strong.

"Let go! You can't let her die,"I cried. My heart was broken beyond repair.
She was gone and nothing could bring her back.
Nothing.
Yesterday she looked fine, what happened?
Why did she give up?
Didn't she know that she had a family waiting for her to wake up?
I walked to the wall and rested my forehead on it.
She was gone.
She was really gone.

Untitled...
In the darkest of the night
The wind howled
The stars stopped shining.
Thunders clashed against each other
The creatures of the dark came out of their hiding places
The great beast of the earth flew high into the sky as if running away from the pain the ground felt
But she couldn't process what had happened.
She still could see her mother's face clearly, her eyes shining
Her heavenly smile.
Little did she know that her mother had made her stronger.
In life, nothing is forever.
Grief is all us around us

Like I said before this poem is untitled, but I wanted to write what I was feeling.
