I was born in Rochester, New York. My mom, Katherine Ford, raised me by herself for the most part until my step-dad came in the picture. I never knew my real dad since he, as my mother said, left her when he found out she was pregnant with me. I never cared on finding him as I got older. If he didn't care for me to stay, then there was no point in trying to reconnect with him. Besides, my step-dad is the one who cared for me. He was my father, and nothing could change that.

Robert Michaels made my mom happy. Though she had me with another man, and though she loved me with all her heart, anyone could see that Robert was her soulmate. He appeared in my life when I was almost 4 years old, around Christmas time. He bought me my first Black Holiday Barbie. I loved him ever since. My mom, being a single parent, had to do everything for me, so when she met Robert, he nearly swept her off of her feet.

He got her anything she had wanted. Spoiled her rotten. Spoiled me even more so. But mom deserved it.

When they finally got married, I went from being Adrienne Ford to Adrienne Michaels.

Robert was unable to have any children due to an accident that occurred before he met mom, so he wanted me to have his name. No matter what, I was always going to be his little girl. The difference of our skin tones never blinded the love we had for each other. People may have turned their heads seeing two white adults with a mixed child. None of their opinions mattered.

We were a family. That's where it ended.

After the crazy events that has happened in my life, I missed my parents a lot. Granted, they were over 5 hours away from me by car, but flying would be much quicker. I had some vacation days saved up; I decided I'd be going home.

Now, I just have to figure out how I'll tell Blaine. Surely, Darren would be smart to not create drama with my family. It's me who he wants. O'Brien could relax from bodyguarding me for a few days.

I grab my laptop and search some cheap last minute flights on the couch. I've finally paid off the apartment damages and let go of my lease. The money I've saved after should be enough for a round trip.

Blaine appears in front of the door, handsome as ever. With a fitted white shirt, sweats that hung low on his hips, his hair down and wild, and a cap backwards to match, I crossed my legs in agony. The ache was real. Patience is said to be a virtue. Patience can shut the hell up at the moment.

"Hey, baby. What you up to?" He makes his way to the couch, kissing my forehead before taking his cap off and sitting down. My heart does a small flip.

"Funny you should ask. I'm actually trying to find a flight to go back home." I bit the inside of my cheek when he gazed at the laptop in an unreadable expression. "Just for couple days, maybe a week, tops."

If I could jump inside his head and hear what he was thinking, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

"When were you planning on going?"

"Tonight or tomorrow." Adjusting my glasses, I turn back to the screen. "I haven't seen my parents since Spring Break. And after everything, I-"

"Hey, you don't have to explain, Adrienne. I understand." His hand brushes my cheek; I lean into his touch. "Though, my bed won't be as warm without you in it."

"I think you can manage from my annoying ass for a little bit."

"I so happen to like your ass." Blaine moves the laptop to the counter and pulls me under him in one smooth motion. He places small kisses on my neck, whispering, "And everything else about you."
