Chapter 11

Ashley's Pov

"Uhh Soda I don't know," I said unsure, " My, parents they're making me go to college, I can't just marry you and not go,"

"Ashley, I love you. You don't want to go to college, we both know that. You're 18 you don't have to do anything you don't want to do. You're an adult," Soda said with desperation in his eyes.

"Soda I can't just not go, they saved up there money for me to go. I don't know, I just don't know Soda. I'll have to think about it and talk to my parents Soda,"

"Take all the time you need, hours, days, weeks, years. I will always be here no matter what I love you Ashley."

"I love you to," I said with a heart-broken tear rolling down my face.

I gave Soda a quick kiss on the cheek and walked out the door silently, passing the candles, passing the memories. Leaving them behind in the Curtis house with the love of my life holding a ring and a disappointing ending in his mind.

Sodas pov

I don't know why she can't marry me, it doesn't make sense. Yea her parents did save up money for college for her but she's an adult she shouldn't have to do what her parents say. I really hope she ends up saying yes, cause if she don't and goes to college, I'll be wrecked. Torn apart, ruined, just like I was when I saw Ashley's face once she found out about Sam. And her yelling at me telling me the truth just made it even worse.

I walked into the kitchen were all the gang was standing with confused looks on their faces.

"Whatd she say?" Steve asked the obvious.

"What do you mean what did she say, you idiot. She walked out of the house, but since you can't put this together Steve she said I don't know, she's gonna think about it,"

"Man you just can't get anybody to say yes can ya Soda," Dally said chuckling.

"You know what Dally, you'd never get a girl to marry you either, you're to much of a player. At least Ashley said she would think about it, you couldn't even get a girl to say they'd think about it," I jabbed.

"You better shut your mouth little buddy 'fore I shut it for ya,"

"What Dally you to scared to admit its true," I said laughing.

Dally punched me square in the jaw, I fell backwards a little but I looked right in Dally's raging eyes and punched him back, starting a brawl between us. The guys tried to stop us but I was ticked. Darry finally pried me of Dally and him and Pony held me back, while Two-bit and Steve held Dally.

"Get out a here Dally we don't need no violence 'round the baby!" Darry screamed at Dally.

"Fine, whatever, I don't need to be here, unlike you idiots I have a life, oh and you tell pretty boy here that I have proposed to a girl before her name was Cydnie, she was the most amazing girl I've ever met. She died in a car wreck, never told no one about her. That's why I am the way I am. I'll never find someone as good as her." Dally yelled storming out of the house and slamming the door, nearly knocking the hinges off.

We all sat in silence taking in everything that just happened. I walked over to crying Sam and picked her up out of her bassinet, cradling her in my arms. I looked down at her innocent little face screaming with fear at all the yelling and fighting. She finally stopped crying and fell asleep as I lulled her with a lullaby I always heard my mom sing to Pony when I was young.

I gracefully set Sam back in her bassinet, I stood there looking a her. Studying her features, she was gonna be a real looker when she grew up. I walked over to the gang sitting on the couch talking quietly about what just happened.

"Soda, you're jaw is real blue, you're gonna have a big bruise" Darry said heading in to the kitchen.

"Man Soda, you're real tough. I didn't know you could stand up to Dally like that!" Steve said surprised.

"I didn't know it either," I chuckle while grabbing the ice from Darry and putting it up to my jaw.

"So Soda whatcha gonna do 'bout Ashley?" Two-bit asked looking worried.

"I'm just gonna give her time to decide, if she says no, I don't know what I'm gonna do,"
