~ Chapter #3: If Only Life Was a Math Problem ~

Aleks had found his class after bumping into a couple of old friends in the hall. The class was smaller than a regulated amount of people supposed to be attending, but only because that ranking of math was only taught to a meager amount of people that were smart enough to take the course. And Aleks was one of those people. People don’t look at Aleks as a smart person, so he usually baffles people when he tells them about his higher ranked math classes; he is underestimated just until he helps people with their math homework, then he is credited for his hard work. But then again, Aleks really doesn’t have to work very hard in math or algebra or geometry classes; he just has a general knack for math, and is very talented at unraveling the secrets of convoluted problems. If only he could apply his skills in dramatic situations; that’d make his life a breeze.

He took a seat in the front and smiled down at his hands in his lap; he only sat in the front of classes he felt confident in. Science wasn’t one of those subjects. After the rest of the class arrived and the older male teacher had introduced himself, Mr. Warren had begun to teach, only to get interrupted by the loud shouting bell above his head. Sighing quietly the teacher dismissed the class, and Aleks frowned slightly for two reasons; one, he wanted to learn more about mathematics, and two, he feared that Jordan was practically Eddie’s best friend by now. Standing up slowly after waving a quick goodbye to the teacher, the Russian stepped out from the classroom and made his way to the cafeteria, eventually being joined by Seamus on the medium length walk to the eatery.

“How’s everything going?” The blonde asked quietly as he wiggled his eyebrows at Aleks, his tone questioning. Aleks offered a slight shrug in response to the question.

“’Eh- nothing’s too bad…” He said, compensating for his silence after he’d gotten a disbelieving glance from his sarcasm-master of a friend. Seamus lifted his left eye brow at the Russian’s untruthful words.

“You seem like you’re pushing something down again, Aleks. What’s bugging you this time.” Seamus seemed to order Aleks to tell him what’s wrong instead of a regular sympathetic question. The Russian’s tone was too exposing, the same teen thought to himself as he sighed softly and weaved around a few people with Seamus following right behind him. After Seamus had gotten back to Aleks’ side, he shot the foreign teen a stern stare. “Tell me, Aleks. I’m serious,” Those added words made Aleks hesitate even further, the teen’s brown eyes evading Seamus’ gaze as the other teen’s eyes tried to fix with his.

“…Not now, Seamus.” The brown haired teen murmured, his head turning away from the persisting male beside him before they’d arrived at the cafeteria. Aleks peered into the wide opening room and still felt Seamus’ eyes on him, making him gnaw the inside of his right cheek. “Drop it already.” He told the blonde quickly and quietly before Seamus was able to say another word before shuffling inside the brisk temperature room; his chocolate brown eyes flicking around as he peered at different people’s faces before gazing at Seamus again. He didn’t have a mad facial expression coating his facial features- it was more like a disappointed glint in his gaze as the blonde returned the look. Aleks frowned slightly at him before walking to the line that was gaining people by the second. Taking place in the long string of other high school attendees, he eventually felt a tapping on his right shoulder, and turned to see who it was. It was just a few girls that were a few inches shorter than the Russian who had very wide eyes as they looked up at him, as if they were freaking out.

“Y-you’re Aleksandr, r-right?” One of the girls asked him shakily, making Aleks raise an eyebrow.

“Uh- yeah, why?” He questioned quietly, his legs carrying further ahead when the line had grown shorter and called for him to scoop up a tray. The girls practically yipped with joy and followed after the brown haired teen; the girls suddenly throwing their arms around him, making him gasp with surprise falling from his lips. The three smaller teens laughed and kept their arms around him tight, his legs stopping their moving actions.
