~ Chapter #40: The Day I Won't Hide ~

 "ALEKS!"

The loudest shout he'd ever heard broke into his precious sleep that had entranced him, making his torso jerk forwards due to the strident voice that busted his eardrums. Instinctively he brought his hands up to his sensitive dog ears and cupped them softly, his head pounding from the way his name was called. With his body sitting up, he mewled with aggravation.

"Whaaaaaat?!" Aleks groaned, frustration escaping through his breath, whilst he gently massaged his ears to ease the pain his head felt.

"It's your big day!!" Eddie's voice found its way around Aleks' protective hands, and his words merely made the dog-eared teen groan once more, before he simply fell back into the bed and snuggled back up to the pillows surrounding him, as if he were saying, 'leave me alone and let me sleep.'

But alas, that was the wrong thing to request of the Latino in the room, especially considering how enthusiastic he was about Aleks' graduation- and how he had to be at the school in an hour.

"Aleks, I swear to god, you better get out of this bed right now before I drag you out of it." The fawn-skinned teen threatened, and got a squirming Aleks to mumble something under his breath and get even more comfortable on the bed, like he wasn't going to cooperate. Seeing this, made Eddie huff some, and lower his head; his aggravation being expressed by how his jaws clenched and gritted together roughly. "Aleks, I'll give you to the count of three."

"Merrrhruum."

"One."

"Noooostooopeeet..."

"Two."

"Eddddddddddiiiieee noooo..."

"Thhhr--" Eddie purposely hesitated before saying the last following digit, and made Aleks grumble with rejection even more. "Aleks, I swear to god." The Latino growled, "Just get up and put on your robes!"

"Nooooo! Go to H--"

"--ello, class of 2014!" The principle smiled into the microphone as she paced on stage, a roar of Aleks' peers cheering following her introduction, all the while the Russian just sat moodily in his chair, his slumped over body draped with his graduation robe. "It's your big day, isn't it, guys!" Another wave of screams and shouts approved of the woman's words, as Aleks nearly moved to cup his ears again, but he remembered prior to doing the act that he was wearing his graduation cap.

"Well, I don't want to hold you guys forever, so let's go ahead and get started! Here is Mrs. Knak with the folder of diplomas." The principle grinned into the microphone while she gestured off stage, the elderly woman Aleks knew fairly well slowly walking to center stage to where the podium with the microphone was.

"Thank you," You could hear the soft ways of thanks away from the technological speaker as Mrs. Knak took her spot at the podium, her face in one of her sweet grins she usually wore all of the time. With a sigh, she began. "Well, here we are, class of 2014. I've seen many of your faces, I've known you all well for four, more for some of you, years, and it's kind of hurtful to see you guys leave so soon. Granted, you all earned it with flying colours, though I will surely all miss you." By this time, the waterworks already began with about three-fourths of the people there, not including Aleks of course. He was just there to get his diploma so that he could go home and sleep again.

"So, you guys better visit me on a daily basis!" This earned a few laughs to echo throughout the large auditorium the ceremony was being held in, and soon Mrs. Knak began tearing up as well. "Well, without further ado, I shall begin pronouncing your names from each class pathway for you to come up here and get your diploma.
