~ Chapter #15 (second half): Secrets & Crossed Fingers ~
After a few fleeting moments of bickering excessively with the hard-headed Jake, the Russian rolled his eyes one final time when his pleas where ignored, and threw his hands up before cursing under his breath. Gritting his teeth together as he tuned out his friend's assumptions, Aleks straightened up and hastily exited his room; Jake's words becoming gradually softer as he grew further away distance-wise. He growled at a scarcely-audible volume before stepping over to the corridor's staircase and trudging down the steps with reluctance; his dark ashy-amber orbs keeping his gaze low solemnly as his tail swished behind him. Aleks' floppy tan dog ears twitched briefly when he got to the bottom individual step, and tried to perk up as he hopped down one last time and strolled to the right; his designation being the living room. Silence filled the air uneasily as he sauntered over to the living room's bay window and peered out of it, only to see no car parked in the drive way outside the sizeable clear portal. Which was unsettling. He hadn't anticipated his parents not coming home for a couple of days- their car hasn't been parked outside their house for a while. Where were they? And don't get Aleks wrong; it's not like he wanted them there- no, that was the complete opposite of what he desired. He preferred being free to move about the house rather when they weren't here rather than being cooped up in his bedroom just awaiting night to arrive and then getting abused or ridiculed for no good reason by his stepfather.
Finding himself glaring at the dark gray concrete that was his driveway after a couple of long moments, Aleks blinked plainly before grudgingly turning away from the large window and stepping over to his couch, to plop down onto the plush right leather cushion. The neko brought his legs up to his chest as he laid his chin onto his knees sorrowfully; what was to come next in this series of somewhat misfortunate events? He didn't know. His day wasn't going the way he preferred it to be unravelling- but, then again, his days never did go the way he wanted them to. As his eyes softened down at the floor, the air around the Russian felt like it was carrying a heavy calmness to it, Aleks noted mentally- even the silence seemed to be ushering him to spew what he really was to Eddie. Everything was so pressuring, everything was so beseeching. Everything was so difficult. Why was all he has came to know so- unreadable?
Ignorance was going to be the death of Aleks, he was sure of it himself.
All he could do was wait, with his fingers crossed, until Eddie arrived… Aleks was trying to encourage himself to do- what he thought was, unattainable. 'Please… Don't be disgusted,'
As he wallowed in his own self doubts with a bummed facial expression directed towards the floor ridiculing him, Aleks soon enough heard multiple sounds occuring around him. First was the sound of a motor's vrooming and sputtering growing louder outside. Second was the thumping of eager feet trotting down the steps of the staircase outside the living room. Third was a muffled laughing. Fourth was the sounding of the high-pitched doorbell echoing throughout the house - that was to Aleks' dismay, yet it was like music to his sensitive dog ears. Fifth was the sound of a door being unlocked and swung open. Sixth was a greeting.
"Hey, dude! You're Eddie, yeah?"
"'Course! And you must be-"
"Jake, yep; that's me."
Upon hearing who was at the front door, Aleks' eyes widened for a quick second before his body took action and moved his head to bury his face in his scrawny knees. This was really happening. This was it.
