~ Chapter #27 (first half): A Storm's Benefits ~

He just couldn’t shake off the thought of Seamus, eavesdropping. Aleks had concluded that he was listening in on their conversation, and that that must be why the red vehicle he was so used to seeing was sitting motionless on the sandy tan pavement of Eddie’s driveway. Even as his ears were infiltrated by his date’s lovely voice and faint music that was played on the soft radio built into the dash of the car, he felt like he couldn’t react to anything; he was too busy being mortified.

Now, don’t get him wrong.

He’s not ashamed of being out, with Eddie. No.

He’s just- petrified of what Seamus could do with the newly found information he discovered so, villainously. Now that he was thinking about it, Aleks also pointed out mentally how the Irish teen had been acting strangely the past few days, and the Russian just couldn’t put his finger on what was so wrong about him. He couldn’t place an emotion on what the flaxen haired male portrayed anymore, not ever since Tuesday- but he had a grave feeling that the mind-set clouding the other’s mind wasn’t positive. He now almost always feels an odious vibe radiating off of the other boy when he’s around him, and whenever he would question it genuinely, Seamus would just grin that dreadfully bogus grin, and insist that he was all right. But Aleks was almost positive that he wasn’t.

He couldn’t be, not when he wasn’t shooting sarcastic bullets at him, or not being authentic in executions of answers to Aleks’ questions.

It would seem that they’ve switched roles.

Watching the darkened scrolling gray from his seat’s window as it slithered beneath the car he was in, the Russian was irrefutably impassive as his mind wandered with insecurities, and it certainly wasn’t long until his date noticed. Eddie was practically talking to himself, he had – with delay – perceived, before he glanced over at the neko beside him for closure on his questioning thoughts. With a hurried glimpse, the Latino discovered that Aleks was somewhat slumped over in his seat, as his beautiful ashy-amber eyes appeared dreary. His chin was propped up on the car door sloppily, and his hair quavered and rustled every once in a while because of the wind filing into the vehicle through the cracked windows; his dog ears visible, and making Eddie’s mind fill up with slightly less relevant deliberation.

'Whoops,’ Eddie thought as he turned his head to watch the road again, ‘I guess I yanked him out of the house too quickly…’ Even though it was the most recent and fresh mental note within his cranium, he didn’t pay it too much attention, and even neglected it as he heard soft ticks resound from around the car. With his curious eyes, he realized it was starting to rain. ‘Damn,’ The fawn-skinned teen bit the inside of his right cheek, before taking another quick glance at the other person who inhabited the car. ‘I hope this doesn’t spoil my dinner plans; I spent an hour on preparing it…!’ Swallowing the lump in his throat before moving his right hand off the wheel to turn down the already scarcely-audible music that played in the background, Eddie contemplated what to say; to bring Aleks back into reality, and to make him happy- or at least happier than he appeared then.

“Aleks?” The driver called out optimistically; his eyes soon flicking his gaze back to the road and cars ahead of him as he latched his hand back onto the wheel, at two. Ten and two. After a moment of silence, Eddie cursed mentally, and let out a deliberately shortened sigh. “Aleks,” He murmured, before reaching out his right hand and gripping the other teen’s hand, that was laying on his lap limply. The sudden warmth engulfing the ending region of his left limb was what caused the Russian to blink and come back to life, with a revelation.
