~ Chapter #38 (second half): Regret ~

It had been a few weeks since the 'duel,' and my oh my had the guilt been eating at his unresponsive psyche excessively ever since it had occurred.

He rued how his anger had consumed him, how his way of reasoning and coping landed one of his best friends in the hospital...

He couldn't convince himself to visit Seamus, he really couldn't. In his book, it would've only made him feel worse for putting the Irish teen in there in the first place. He felt a complex concoction of  sporadic emotions towards what he'd done; Seamus was threatening to steal away the only thing in his life that granted him sanity... What else could he do? Request for him to please stop?

Aleks knew that wouldn't have worked, for it definitely wouldn't have made a single aspect of difference arise between Seamus and Eddie... But did that make what he did okay? Did that correct the wrong properties?

He really did not even acknowledge what he'd done before it was too late. Once he broke himself free, his experience of the situation was much alike Seamus'. It was just a large blur with hazy images, like he himself had fallen unconscious, and like his anger was his body entirely. He didn't want anything of his canine likeness to surface, yet when he was finally pulled off of the blonde he attacked, he awoke to himself with his teeth dug deep into someone's arm--Seamus' arm.

He remembered hearing many shouts for someone to come help when he was just regaining control of his body, he recalled seeing his boyfriend's fearful face as he was picked up by the very Latino...

The image of Eddie being completely terrified was burned eternally into his memory. Every time Aleks blinked, there it was--his dark eyes wide behind his glasses' lens, his mouth in a frightful frown... It traumatized him that he could ever make someone who was so bubbly and likable appear that way in his vision, it made him want to just hide away in his room for the rest of his terrible life-- but he didn't have 'his room' anymore... All he had was his--

"Aleks...?"

A ginger call sounded from the doorway of the room he inhabited, causing the Russian to jump some from his bowed state at his boyfriend's desk, and stop gritting his teeth together painfully. The brunette slowly glanced over at the door; his facial expression soft and visibly regretful.

The dark amber eyes blinked a single time at the sight of who stood there, awaiting acknowledgement. "Hey, Eddie..." He'd murmured and turned away again, his tone sad whilst he moved. "What do you need...?"

"I'm just checking up on you..." The Latino whispered and moved to enter the room, the door being shut behind him, "How are you feeling?"

"Sick with worry... How is he?" Aleks had said, craning his neck some to look over his shoulder and gaze at Eddie with a vulnerable glint in his eye. "Were you able to see him?"

Eddie nodded slowly, "The doctors say he's fine, and won't be bed-ridden for much longer." With this verbal information, the brunette of the two let out a breathy sigh.

"I see... Did he say anything about how he hates me...?"

This made the fawn-skinned teen in the room's eyes twinkle behind his glasses with the mentioning of this.

"Actually," Eddie began, a matter-of-fact tone being sprinkled over his words, "He said he wants to thank you."

"T-thank me?" Aleks' voice somewhat broke, his eyes widening. "What can he possibly thank me for?? I put him in the hospital!" His voice was heavy with doubt, the volume being soft, causing Eddie to nearly giggle.

"Quote: 'He put some sense back into my head by knocking it around a little bit.'"

"...Wow..." Aleks whispered and peered back down at the desk beneath his propped up elbows. "He's glorifying my crime..."

"No," Eddie assured, and stood up from his seat on his bed to step over to his boyfriend. "Don't speak that way... Anyone can understand what you did and why you did it..." He murmured, setting a hand on Aleks' right shoulder gently to assist in conjoling him.

"...I'm just sorry for what I did..." The brunette said, making Eddie shake his head in response to this sympathetic statement.

A small smile stretching over his lips, "He thanked you, Aleks, for what you did... and I hear that he and Jordan are going out now."

"W-what?!" Aleks suddenly questioned, his tone showing how shocked he was as he sat up and turned in the swivelling chair he was seated in, to gaze at Eddie with perplexed eyes. "Seamus and Hordan??"

"Yeah."

"What happened to him and Monica?"

"That part I don't know, but I do know that they're really happy together... Jordan hasn't shut up about it since I ran into him after visiting Seamus," The Latino of the two in the room elaborated softly, moving the hand that was once rested on Aleks' shoulder to cup the other's right cheek instead.

"Well--that's sweet..."

"Does that make you feel a little better?" Eddie whispered with high hopes and a dolce tone, his eyes soft in Aleks' direction as the Russian's lips stretched into a small smile.

"Yeah... It actually does..."

A fox-like grin swallowed the Latino's lips upon hearing this confirmation, his hand moving to grip Aleks' right one gently. Slowly Eddie pulled the Russian to a standing stance, and pecked his lips lightly after looking dreamily into the eyes he fell for a long while ago. After the short kiss, the fawn-skinned teen smiled one last time at the brunette, before motioning to the bed beside of them and opening his mouth to speak softly.

"Good, now let's go to bed. It's eleven PM, and we're going to be shopping for your graduation all day tomorrow."
