At school I was about to sign my name on the Band Sign-up Sheet when Lizzy and her Malibu Barbie Doll friends showed up.

She looked at me with disgust in her eyes and whispered something in one of her friend’s ear before coming up to me. ‘Oh here we go.’ I thought.

“You’re not going to sign up for a band are you?” she asked in her annoying high pitch voice. I’m surprised that the guys she dated didn’t die from her super high voice. “I mean, just look at you.”

“And what does that supposed to mean,” I snapped.

“Just, how you won’t be able to win the contest with no skills what-so ever.”

“That’s funny, because I was thinking the same thing about you.”

“Excuse me,” she said as she smacked her hand on the sign up sheet.

“You heard me. Now remove your plastic Barbie hand off the sheet.”

Her friends gasped and looked at each other as I signed my name on the sheet while taking off Lizzy’s hand.

I walked off after I was done only to be met by someone tapping my shoulder. I turned around and saw a really mad Lizzy. “What do you want now?” I asked.

“You forgot something,” she said.

“What?”

“This.” She raised her hand and was about to slap me.

I closed my eyes, ready to be slapped but, nothing came. I opened my eyes and saw Chrisoff holding Lizzy’s arm. Her hand was just inches away from my face.

“You listen and you listen good, you hear me,” he said to Lizzy. “If you lay a finger on Tori, I’ll make sure you won’t have any once I’m done with you.” He looked at me and went back to looking at Lizzy. “Do you understand?”

Lizzy glared over to me and back to Chrisoff, who was tightening his grip on her, she bit her bottom lip. “Okay,” she whimpered.

Chrisoff let go of her arm and left a giant red mark on it. Lizzy’s friends huddled by her and walked off talking to each other about her arm. I was about to ask Chrisoff something but, he was gone.

“Where is he,” I said to myself. Just then Ella ran up to me and said.

“Omigod Tori, I got your text about the band. When do we start?” This morning I send my friends texts about us being in a band so we can be in the contest.

“We start tomorrow, after school, in the Chorus room,” I explained.

“Great, who else is going to be in the band?”

“We’re going to have Brad on guitar, Chrisoff on drums, you on backup, Snow on keyboard, and me on guitar.”

“Who’s going to be the lead singer?”

“Me.”

“Cool, I can’t wait until tomorrow.’’

I rolled my eyes and walked to 3rd period with Ella.

That afternoon when I was walking home from school I saw a dark shadow out of the corner of my eye. I turned my head towards it and it was gone. I turned back to face the front and saw Chrisoff.

I jumped back a little when I saw him. “You need to stop creeping up on me like that,” I said.

He smiled, not saying a word.

“Thanks for stopping Lizzy back there for me.”

“Hey, no problem,” he said.

“Where have you been lately? I haven’t seen you until you and Ella hooked up,” I said.
