“Good morning class my name is Mrs. Wellington, I’ll be your math teacher for the rest of the school year. Before we begin the class I want each student to come to the front of the room and say your name, your age, and one thing that you like to do,” she said. “Let’s start with you in the pink dress?”
Her name was Lizzy Hernandez. She was the most popular girl in all of my schools; today this morning she got all of the jocks to do whatever she wants. Oh how I despise her.
After 20 minutes of listing to the class it was my turn. As I went up to the front of the room several classmates were giggling and pointing expect for Brad, who was looking at classmates angrily. Then I noticed a note on my back and it said:
I’m a nerdy gothic vampire
(Which is true, except the vampire part). And that meant one thing; the person who was sitting behind me was none other than Jack Pricey, the ungrateful-likes to tell awful jokes about people-kid. I knew him since grade school and he was always picking on me since day one.
Mrs. Wellington told everyone to settle down so I can talk. “Go head,” she said. So I did.
“My name is Tori Jackson, I am 14 ½ years old, and I like to make and sing music.”
“Loser,” said Jack. Everyone laughed expect for Brad.
“Jack go step outside” said Mrs. Wellington. Just then the bell rang for next period.
After a few hours of learning it was time for lunch (finally). When I got out of the lunch line I saw my friends at a nearby table and I sat down between Ackie and Nessa.
Ackie was wearing skull earrings that were covering her black and blonde highlighted hair, black combat boots with spikes on them, a black cowgirl hat on and a long sleeves shirt on with a black cross on it.
Snow who was across from me was wearing black nail polish, a purple and black long sleeve shirt, black ripped jeans and a black bow in her red haired hair.
Nessa for some reason didn’t wear black today expect her black hat and shoes.
And Chrisoff… oh Chrisoff, he’s one of those kids who tries to act as someone else. Today he’s dressed as the president with his black suit on and his dads black dress shoes. What am I going to do with him? I thought.
When I was getting ready to be done with my lunch Brad came out of the hallway starring right at me, like if the whole world was in slow motion whenever he saw me. He was walking to a table that was filled with kids, but when he tried to sit down all the kids got up and walked to another table far away from Brad as possible. He was alone.
“Hey guys I’ll be right back. I got to go check on something,” I said, I got up with my drink and walked away before any of my friends said anything. “Hey Brad what’s up.”
“Oh hey… Tori, what are you doing here?”
“I just wonder if you want someone to sit next to you for a while.”
“Sure. It’s the only thing I can get around here” he said, joking a little.
“So… you eat home lunches (I’m such an idiot).”
“Yeah, my mom says it will be better if we didn’t eat school lunches.”
I nod my head in understandment.“Hey let’s play a game by knowing each other more sort of like a question game (Like I said ‘I’m such an idiot’),” I said.
“Sure. You can go first.”
“Okay. What’s your favorite movie?”
“Warm Bodies.”
“No way, that’s my favorite movie too,” I said.
“Really, you like that movie?”
“Yeah, I'm such a sucker for zombie movies.”
“Awesome,” he said rocking his head. “What’s your favorite color?”
“Purple, what’s yours?”
“Black, do you have any allergies?” he said.
“No, I’m not allergic to anything, what about you?” I said.
“I’m allergic to garlic.”
“Really, I don’t know a lot of kids who’s allergic to garlic.”
“Well, I guess you know one then,” he said jokingly
“What do you see in a girl?” I said.
He grinned widely at this question and leaned so close to me that I could smell his breath; the scent of his breath was foreign to me and I couldnt figure out what it was. “What I see in a girl is that she has to be beautiful, kind, sweet, smart, and believes in true love when they see it. So… what do you see in a guy?”
This got me off guard and I was completely starstruck. “Well he has to be tall, handsome, very smart and clever, and treats me with respect.”
“Well I guess I’m your guy.” We both smiled.
“Then that makes me your girl. Hey I better get to my friends; they can’t go without me for one second.”
“Okay, see you later.”
“Yeah, see you too.” As we walked away from each other we took one last look until I went into the hallway.
