Chapter 25 - Promise me

Lana woke suddenly in the pitch black room. She looked around automatically for Jamie but he wasn't there. The motion of the ship was making her feel sick so she climbed out of the bed to get some fresh air.
The deck was wet under her bate feet but she didn't mind, it cooled her down. Lana went over to the edge and placed her hands on the edge of the rail, she took a deep breath of ocean air.
"well, well, well if it isn't lana snow." A voice came from behind her, it was familiar and filled her with panic. Lana spun round quickly, so quickly that it nearly made her fall but fortunately she steadied herself.
"Lancel? What are you doing here?" She tried to conceal the panic in her voice but she didn't succeed. Lana looked around for any sign of Jamie but there was nothing, she didn't know what to do.
"I could ask you the same thing. However I'm fairly certain I already know the answer. You and my cousin are off to the free cities to escape kings landing?" He stepped a little closer and lana stepped back, her back bashed into the wooden rail.
"I don't know where we are going, Jamie didn't tell me." She lied.
"You are a good liar, but not that good. In truth I am here because of my other darling cousin, queen cersai." His voice was calm.
"She sent you." Lana said
"I have been following you for weeks but unfortunately he never leaves your side, until now that is." He grinned.
"She wants me dead." Lana said sadly
"I'm afraid so, you see since yours and Jamie's departure she has been extremely bad tempered. I think your death may make her more content."
"But it won't change anything will it? He still won't want her and she will still be an evil bitch." She raised her voice in hope of someone seeing her but the deck was completely empty.
"Careful now lady lana, she told me to make it slow and painful but I'll make it quick, she needn't know." He stepped closer again but she put her hand over her belly.
"Lancel please don't do this, I'm pregnant. Lanas eyes became teary and for a minute she saw his soften.
"Even better, two stark bastards for the price of one." Lana screamed as he came at her with the knife, she tried to wrestle him but he was so strong.
"Lana!" At last she heard his voice and he was coming towards her.
"Jamie." She screamed no longer able to hold Lancel off.
"Stark whore." Lancel spat as she felt an agonising pain in her stomach. Lana screamed out and clutched herself, her hands scarlet with blood.
"Get off of her." Jamie pulled Lancel off, he threw him over to the other side of the deck.
Lana fell to her knees suddenly overwhelmed with pain, all she could think about was the baby.
"Lana!" Jamie shouted, but Lancel was behind him.
"Jamie behind you." Lana managed to say through the pain.
Jamie got up and span to face Lancel, he grappled with Jamie but had hurt his hand from earlier. Jamie punched him so that he was nearly unconscious, when he was he threw him overboard into the freezing sea.
"Jamie." Lana called and he came running, he knelt beside her.
"Lana I'm so sorry, i couldn't reach you fast enough." His sounded frantic, his face full of concern.
"Jamie I'm dying." She murmured, in and out of consciousness.
"No your not, your going to be fine, listen to me, keep your eyes open." He pulled her onto his lap, tears were falling from his eyes.
"I love you so much." She said softly, she meant every word.
"Your not going anywhere do you hear me, lana. Don't leave me, I can't survive without you."
"You have to, promise me you will."
"Lana..." He interrupted.
"Promise me." She repeated, barely audible.
"I promise."
Lanas eyes finally closed, she lay there on his lap and Jamie screamed out.
