~Falling For You~
Prologue
I ran...
I ran faster than I thought was possible for myself. I couldn't handle this anymore. Not anymore. I wasn't going to suffer through school, the bullying, my father, love, if I had no reason to. Which I didn't. I had no reason to stay here and suffer.
No friends. Everyone at school tends to stay away from me. The girl, who I once had as my friend, left. She moved away. Well, then there's May, Maybelle Simmons, she was a happy-go-lucky person, who hung out with anyone and everyone. I've known her since forever. The guys here, well, they were jerks. At least to me. The girls, though, they were worse.
I stumbled along the stony, dirt paths, not knowing where I was actually heading, but kept going anyway.
By the time I came to a stop, I had tears cascading down my cheeks. I took a deep breath and stopped crying, well tried to, wiping away some of the tears that were still finding their way down my cheeks. I looked around and gave off a small, sad smile. I had ended up by the little stone bridge, just miles off of Minneapolis.
The bridge was still able for usage and was absolutely beautiful. The grey stones flickered with silver specks, making it shine in the sunlight. By the edges grew lilies, daises and wild roses, that at this time were blossoming with new buds and flowers. The Mississippi River runs under it. The water is a lot calmer here, though, than in other places. Below the waters' surface, rocks of many different colors and kinds sparkle and glisten with the sun's light, touching their surfaces.
On the opposite side of the river, there were trees of many kinds scattered around the river's edge, on the side where I stood, was a little town. I didn't even know the name of the town, or if it even had one. No one really called it by a name, it was always 'My town' or 'River's town', but not really anything else. This was the place I grew up in, with my sister, Kaylee and brother, Kegan. We would always play by the bridge. It was always so happy around our household.
But with the river being so dangerous, my brother and sister got swept away and were never found. This accident led to the bridge's closing for the last five years. I was thankful to be able to see off it again.
Around me people were chatting, waiting around, or looking at the beautiful plants and trees that grew around the town. I gave a small sigh, a frown started to form onto my lips, as I walked onto the bridge. Leaning against the side, I peered into the waving waters below. It was gently lapping against the rocks and earth. It made the water look even more tempting.
I glanced around again, hoping no one was watching me, but also just wanting one last look at the place were my life started -and ended. I took a deep breath and climbed onto the rough stone ledge. I looked back at the people. No one noticed me. I blinked away tears that I had felt coming to my eyes.
Then something caught my eye. I looked into the swarm of people and saw someone. A boy. He had glimmering brown hair, hazel-brown eyes and a heart-melting smile. I knew him. I had seen him around town before, but I never had gotten to learn his name.
As I was staring at him, he turned his gaze towards me. Our eyes locked. My heart sped up. I didn't know what I was feeling but it felt familiar. It was a feeling that I had lost long ago. After the incident. The boy tore his gaze away from my eyes and looked at where I was. Eagerness was in his eyes, but it soon disappeared and was replace by shock, that was now written on his face. He ran from the crowd towards me. I gave a small smile.
