Chapter 13
~Special Someone
I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing. It was playing Perfect World by Simple Plan; Kyle's ringtone. Surprised, since he seemed to have ignoring me for a while, I grabbed my phone. It was a text. With curiosity, I opened it.
It read:
Kaelyn, I know you probably hate me now, but please know I am very very sorry about what I said and I have a surprise for you. Please go the Middle-of-The-School-Year concert tonight. My surprise will take place there. Please, please, please go!
~Kyle
I didn't know if I should listen to him or not. I sighed. Shaking my head, I got out of my bed and went to the bathroom. When I looked in the mirror, I almost swore that the girl wasn't me. I know I should be used to it by now, but I'm not. I never was.
She had blood-shot eyes from crying. Her hair seemed to be losing its color. She had dark purple bags under her eyes. She had tear stains lining her face. She had bruises from who knows what still present. But the worst thing yet was her eyes. They held nothing. No emotion. No truth. No future.
I looked away from the mirror, unable to look at myself. As I started to make a small movement, my eyes caught sight of something. My wrists. My legs. The bandages were falling off. I quickly unrolled the bandages and looked at my cuts. They still looked fresh, like they just happened only a few moments to a few hours ago. Then my mind flashed back to times before. Times with Kyle.
"Kaelyn, I won't let go."
That's when I lost it. Tears started to stream down my face. I was so shocked about what had just happened. I was so lost in my thoughts of what Kyle had done, I didn't notice his expression.
"Kaelyn, what is this?" he asked, confused.
I followed his gaze down to my wrist. The cut I had made earlier was visible. He looked at me with worry. I pulled my sleeve down and looked away from him. I couldn't believe he had seen it.
"K-kaelyn? D-did you do that t-to your-yourself?" He stuttered.
"I-I..." I panicked. I was scared to say something. So I got up and ran. Ran away from him and the school. I heard him calling me name. I wanted so badly to turn around and stay with him, but I couldn't do it.
"Kaelyn, why weren't you at school today?" he asked, his voice was quivering.
"I... I..." I stuttered.
I couldn't answer him. Before I could even try, I had tears streaming down my face. I hated people seeing me like this, so I turned and ran up the stairs to my room. When I reached my room, I ran into my bathroom and dug through my drawers, looking for my friend.
Soon I had it in my grasp and everything in me was numb. I had stopped crying and was now numb with no emotion. I sat down on the edge of the tub and looked at the razor in my hands.
In what seemed like mili-seconds, I had the razor against my skin and i had made a small cut. But that one was followed by another. Again and again. I kept doing it, the pain it brought was my own doing, my own self-punishment. I had to do it. I needed to feel the hurt.
I had again started crying. I watched the crimson liquid leak out, staining my snow-white skin. I was so focused on my wrists, I didn't notice someone coming into my room.
Soon, the razor was taken from my hands, but I sat there, almost deadly still. I heard someone shuffling around the bathroom, and then the water running. I flinched when I felt a wet wash cloth touch my wrist.
