Chapter 18

~Goodbye's Suck!

 "I'm  leaving."

"W-what?" I whispered.

No, no, no! He cannot leave! If he leaves then he can't 'fall in love' with me. Then I wasted my time doing this. I will for surely be dead. My only chance to live, is leaving.

"My dad got a job opportunity in Carolina. So, he is making us go there with him. But I could be back in a week, or month," he told me, whispering the last part.

"A-a m-month?" I asked.

"Or a week! My dad is going there to see if he is able for the job, and if he is, if my mom would like to move there," he said, frantically, but whispered the last few words.

"When are you leaving?" I asked, quietly.

"We have to be at the airport at about nine," he whispered.

I looked at a clock that hung on the walls of the bowling alley, it was about three thirty in the morning. Kyle would be leaving in about six hours. I had less than six hours left to spend time with him. At the thought of this, I almost wanted to cry.

It is now the start of day nineteen, meaning only nine days left. Nine days. Kyle could be gone from any where between seven to thirty or even more!

Getting Kyle to fall in love with me, while proving it three times, was impossible from the start. All I did by doing these twenty eight days all over again, was give myself a bigger heart ache than I had already had!

Kyle must have noticed my change in mood, as he had grabbed my face, turning it to look at him. I looked in to his eyes. Emotions ranged from worry to concern, to sadness to... love? Gently, his thumb ran over my cheek, wiping away tears that I hadn't noticed have fallen.

"Hey, I won't be gone forever, Kae," he whispered softly.

I so badly wanted to tell him that I only had none days left before I would be gone. But I just couldn't speak. He probably wouldn't believe me either. Tears started to fall more quickly down my cheeks, betraying me. Kyle frowned slightly, before wrapping his arms around me, holding me tightly against his chest, like if he let go, I would disappear. And that was almost true.

"Sh, Kae, everything will be alright. I promise, I will come back for you," he whispered soothingly into my ear.

As Kyle held me, I took in his scent, his shape, everything. I would always have these memories, but the saddest thing is, Kyle wouldn't. I took a deep breath, breathing in his scent of his cologne. Our bodies fit together like puzzle pieces, like he was made for me, and I to him. The way his arms wrapped around me, making me feel so secure and safe. I never wanted to leave this position.

Eventually, sadly, we had to leave the bowling alley.

Walking hand in hand, we went to the all night ice cream parlor, located only a few blocks away from the bowling alley.

As Kyle and I made our way down the dimly light streets, I thought about everything we had done over the course of eighteen days.

I looked up slowly and gasped when I saw Kyle. Shock filled my eyes as he sat down next to me. I could see something in his eyes. It reminded me of that night.

"Hey..." He trailed off. I then realized he didn't know my name.

"Kaelyn," I whispered.

"Kaelyn. I'm Kyle and..." he again trailed off.

"Nice to meet you," I again whispered.
