Darcy's POV
Before I was abducted by Moriarty and conditioned by Irene, I'd always been fidgety and impatient. I always had to be doing something. Whether that was reading, thinking or running around after a Consulting Detective.
But now, sitting and waiting for Scott to arrive I realised I had become more patient and willing to sit waiting. If I was the person I used to be I'd be getting anxious and texting him, wondering how long he was going to be.
I'd said I'd meet him in ten minutes but that was just me trying to sound authoritative, I wasn't expecting him to turn up that soon with the amount of traffic in London.
The table I'd chosen was in the middle of the café but I'd sat so I could look out the large front windows. I hadn't been in the MI6 building for too long since it was still light outside and I took my phone out to see it was only four o'clock.
Having the spare time, I started to scroll through the different apps on my phone and I ended up on my contacts. My finger lingered over the button as I highlighted Moran's name, something in me wanted to let him know I was doing okay.
But I knew that was a stupid idea.
The bell to the door ringing caught my attention and I looked up from my phone to see Scott holding the door open for an old lady that was just leaving. He wasn't wearing his usual suit but a pair of beige trousers, a blue button down shirt and some brown leather shoes.
He finally started to walk towards me, with a smile on his face, and he put his hands casually in his pockets. "May I?" He asked, nodding to the empty seat in front of me.
"Sorry, someone's sitting there." I commented with a smirk.
Scott just shook his head and turned to the counter. I tried to fight the smile threatening to fill my face and also tried not to look at how tight the shirt actually was on him. As he talked to the woman at the counter I slipped my phone into the pocket of my trousers and rested my elbows on the table.
I preferred him in this casual attire, he seemed more comfortable and that put me at ease. I hadn't realised I was staring until I noticed he'd turned around and was making his way back to our table. "Enjoying the view?" He commented and sat in the chair opposite me.
"No. You're a little underdressed that's all." I shrugged and sat back in my seat.
Scott glared at me and I broke my cover, smiling widely. "Actually, I think you're overdressed for this sort of establishment." He quipped back and looked over my outfit of a blouse and blue trousers. "So, you had a busy day then?"
"You have no idea." I answered quietly as two cups were placed in front of us both. I looked down at my cup of tea and frowned.
He turned his own cup around with the handle and shrugged. "You seemed like a tea person." With that he winked and took a sip of his coffee.
I rolled my eyes and poured some milk in my tea, then took the teabag out resting it on my teaspoon. "You were right. I am very much a tea person." A scene of one of the many times Sherlock, John and I had shared tea in the flat in silence.
"Who were those 'old friends' you were catching up with?" Scott asked and raised his eyebrows at me from behind his cup.
I put my cup on my saucer. "Just some people I knew before..." I was going to tell him. I was going to tell him everything but I stopped myself and took a breath. We weren't there yet. I couldn't just unload everything like that on him, we barely knew each other.
Scott seemed to understand as he put his own cup down and leant forward. "I get it, you don't want to talk about it that's fine. But then I'm not going to learn anything about you Darcy."
