Brian's POV
I watched as Nicole tossed my keys on the counter and quickly grabbed her stuff. I ran my hand through my hair as I ran back inside after she left.
"Tori! Where do y'all live?" I grabbed my keys.
"Bri, I think you should just leave her alone." Zack said.
"No! I need to apologize. I just asked a simple question at first then I may have crossed the line... Now, where do they live?" I said sternly.
"The apartment complex about five miles from the coffee shop." Tori said.
"The coffee shop I meet her at?" I asked curiously.
"Yeah, it's apartment 415." Tori said.
"Thanks Tori!" I ran out to my car and got in. I started the car and left quick. Now here I am apologizing to her and she looks stunned to see me.
"Look, I meant it when I said I'm dedicated to my work. I don't get out much like this..." Nicole rubbed her eyes.
"You need to though Nicole... You need to live a little." I looked at her. "I am sorry I brought up your mom the way I did, but Nik it's true. You just need to take a chance every now and then."
"I can't.." Nicole sighed and looked up at me. "Brian, she didn't just get cheated on and tossed out. She has been mistreated so many times... I witnessed that..." She threw her hands up and then turned slightly.
"What do you mean mistreated?" I asked curiously. "Like hit?"
"Once... She left taking me and Tori with her. She never dated again. She is still alone to this day right now..." Nicole said quietly.
"But, that doesn't mean it will happen to you." I walked closer to her.
Nicole looked at me and sighed. "Why are you doing this?" She mumbled. Her tone was like she had been defeated and she was giving up the fight.
"Because, I'm trying to be a friend..." I sighed and moved in front of her.
Her brown eyes looked straight into mine. "I highly doubt you just want to be friends..." Nicole mumbled again.
"Doesn't matter what I want right now. You said you didn't date clients and I respect that." Well, somewhat respect that.
Nicole sighed and looked down. "Good. I'm glad."
"You don't sound like it..." I pointed out. Is she giving that fight up? Or just trying to end the conversation.
"Because, you make it difficult... You are so damn persistent!" She ran her hands through her hair.
I raised my eyebrows at her. "What are you saying?" I'm persistent? I didn't think I was.
Nicole shook her head. "I don't know..." She went to walk away. I gently caught her elbow and stopped her. I pulled her into me softly. I placed my hand on her cheek and I pressed my lips to hers. She pushed me back lightly. "Brian don't..."
"Nicole..." I said quietly. She looked up at me. "You are driving me insane..."
"I'm sorry..." Nicole said quietly and slowly moved my hand from her cheek.
"What is so bad about being with me?" I asked as I softly grabbed her hand. I slipped my fingers between hers. I stepped even closer to her. "Does your boss care about image?"
"No... I just..."
"Try to be professional..." I cut her off. "I get that... But, it's not the end of the world if you just happen to date someone you've designed for..."
Nicole bit her bottom lip. "I can't..." She whispered.
"Can't or won't?" I whispered. I pressed my lips to hers again I softly placed my hand on the back of her head for a moment as I made it a kiss she will definitely remember. "Think about it..." I said softly as I looked in her eyes then left her apartment.
