Chapter 54

Brian's POV

"Dawn!" I called as I finished making her lunch and putting it in her lunch box.

"I'm here." Dawn came into the kitchen.

"You ready to go Dawny?" Nicole asked as she grabbed her keys.

"Yeah." Dawn grabbed her lunch box. "Bye daddy." She hugged me.

"Bye baby girl. Have a good day at school." I smiled. "And you have a good day at work babe." I kissed Nicole.

"I will do my best. You're going to the studio right?"

"Yes I am." I nodded.

"Ok, have fun and have a good day." Nicole smiled.

"I will babe." I smiled and watched them leave. My little Dawn wasn't so little anymore. I got my ass ready then went to the studio.

"Hey Bri." Matt smiled.

"Hey." I smiled as I sat in a chair.

"You will not believe the morning I had!" Zack came in with excitement.

"What happened?" Johnny asked.

"Yeah man spill it." Matt said.

"Tori is pregnant! And I'm going to be a dad!" Zack grinned.

"Congrats bro!" I smiled at him.

"We're happy for you man. Congrats." Matt smiled.

"Thanks guys." Zack smiled. "So, Syn?"

I raised my eyebrow as he picked up our guitars. "What's up?"

"Dueling solos?" Zack asked.

"You're on bro." I nodded as I grabbed my guitar. We hooked them up and we started playing. We were at the studio all day getting a lot done. I felt my phone buzzing in my pocket. "Hey babe." I answered.

"Hey, can you come home?" Nicole asked.

"Yeah, is everything ok?" I asked.

"Dawn is clearly upset, but she won't talk to me." Nicole sounded a little hurt.

"I'm on my way baby. I'm sure it has to do with school." I assured her and hung up. I was about to tell them I was leaving, but Matt was on his phone now.

"Ok babe." Matt said then hung up. "Apparently Liam got in trouble at school today."

"Really? For what?" I asked.

"He saw a kid messing with Dawn. He was looking out for her I guess."Matt said.

"And that's probably why Dawn is upset. I have to go guys." I said and walked out to the car. I made my way home. "Hi."

"Hey, she's in her room." Nicole said softly.

I kissed her then went up to Dawn's room. I knocked on the door. "Dawn.."

"Come in." Dawn said. I opened the door as she hugged a bear I gave her for her birthday. "What's wrong baby girl? I heard you were upset."

"A kid was picking on me." Dawn huffed. "He said I was weird and picking on the way I look."

"He's jealous because you are beautiful. Maybe he knows he would never have a chance with you." I smiled.

"Why wouldn't he?" Dawn asked.

"Because I would bury him in the backyard." I grinned.

"Daddy..." Dawn shook her head. "I'm in fifth grade. Boys are icky."

"Are they? What about Liam?" I asked curiously.

"I told him not to do anything..." Dawn folded her arms.

"Dawn, you're his best friend. He cares about you. Guys are suppose to respect girls, not mistreat them."

"What would you have done if it were momma?" Dawn asked.

"The same thing Liam did for you precious. No one messes with your mother." I smiled.

"You love her daddy?" Dawn looked.

"I love your mother very much. You and her mean everything to me."

"How did you meet her?"

"I hired her to redesign our living room. I meet up with her at the coffee shop and couldn't take my eyes off her. She's just as beautiful now as she was when I meet her." I smiled.

"Did you fall in love right then and there?" Dawn asked.

"No, she was keeping her distance at first. She was concentrating on her work and she told herself she didn't date clients. But, that changed." I explained. "Once your mother opened her heart and allowed me to show her she was my world, she's never been happier."

"I want a love like you and mommy." Dawn smiled.

"One day precious, I hope you do find a love like that. You deserve all the happiness that comes to you. Don't let any guy belittle you and disrespect you baby girl."

"I won't daddy." Dawn hugged me.

"Dawn! Liam is here for you!" Nicole called from downstairs.

"Why is he here?" Dawn got up.

"Probably to apologize for upsetting you." I smiled as I followed her downstairs.

"Hi." Dawn said to Liam as she walked onto the porch.

"Is she ok?" Nicole walked to me?"

"Yeah, Liam got in trouble because he was defending Dawn. Some kid was picking on her. She didn't want Liam to get in trouble."

"Oh, why would this kid pick on her though?" Nicole frowned.

"Because he likes her and secretly finds her beautiful, but she thinks boys are icky right now. Too bad that will all change in a couple of years." I sighed.

"Aw, but you will always be number one Brian." Nicole kissed my cheek.

"I know, I will always be here for her. I just hope she doesn't have too many heartbreaks."

"I know, I hope she doesn't either " Nicole hugged me and laid her head against my chest.

"She asked how we meet." I looked down at her.

Nicole looked up at me. "Did you tell her?"

"Yup, told her everything. She wants a love like ours " I kissed her softly.

"Nicole smiled. "I still think her and Liam are meant to be."

"We'll see." I laughed and Dawn walked in. "Where's Liam?"

"He is heading home. He just wanted to say sorry for upsetting me." Dawn smiled.

"See, he cares about you." I smiled.

"I know." Dawn went up stairs.

I looked at Nicole and smiled. "She likes him." Nicole looked up at me.

"That's ok. I like and approve of Liam." I smiled and walked in the kitchen. "Shall we make dinner?"

"Yes." Nicole nodded as she walked into the kitchen and we cooked dinner together. I looked up to see Dawn peaking around the corner to watch us. I smiled and continued to help with dinner.
