Chapter 42

At noon the next day Spencer and I were both up and we both read some books. After I finished one there was a knock at the door, I looked through the peep hole and saw Maeve."Hello can you help me?"
"I'm sorry but who are you?"
"I'm in the next room, I left my card in my room do you think I could us your phone to call the front desk?"
"Ya, I guess come on in!" I let her in and she looked around, I did too but I didn't see Spencer."Are you here-Mackenzie?"
"What are you doing here?"
"Well-I-I don't know?"
"Maeve you seem like a nice girl-I know what it's like to be wanting something but can't explain what is you want."
"What does that mean?"
"It's another story for another time, but I will tell you! Maeve why are you here?"
"I wanted to talk to Spencer, I've noticed that he wasn't right."
"A lot has been happening lately, including me finding my dad!"
"You din't know who your dad was?"
"No I didn't. I guess you don't need to be looking for something to be able to find it."
"Ya I guess. I'm sorry for all this, I just wanted to figure out my feelings."
"I completely understand I was once down that path, but it was far worse!"
"I'm sorry, it seems like you also had a rough life?"
"I guess, Maeve why don't you go home and talk to your parents."
"I can't they don't know I'm alive!"
"Spencer didn't know!"
"You're right, you know Spencer's lucky to have you."
"Thank you, ok this is a playful thing its not mean! GET YOUR STUFF AND GO, BYE!" She left and I saw Spencer come out of the bathroom."So how'd I do?"
"Surprisingly well, I was thinking I would need to split up a fight!"
"I'm not one of those girls ok!"
"I know, what was that last part?"
"Something from the heart!"
"My fiancé has problems!"
"They aren't my problems, they're your problems!"
"I don't have problems, I have you!"
"Dude that low, that low!"
"What dude? I don't see a low dude."
"Spencer, why do you do this to me?"
"Because I love you!"
"Love you too! I'll be back, I'm getting lunch."
"What are you getting?"
"Chipotle."
"No, I will not allow that!"
"Why?"
"I don't want to get sick, the outbreak reached 14 states and lasted two weeks. I know it was in the past and it we might not get sick I'm not eating from there!"
"Wow you're like my moms friends boy he doesn't like anything that a stranger makes for him!"
"But I'm ok with that, I just don't like places with a sickness history."
"Ok, I'm going to go now!"
"Bye!" I left and I was still kind of worried that Maeve might come back so I told the front desk to keep an eye on our room. But I was walking out and something felt off, like something was happening that wasn't right. I looked past it and went to get food, I needed it!
   When I got back Spencer was reading his 5th book since I left not to mention the other 5 books he read before I left. I handed him his food and I got another call from Maeve."Hello?"
"Hi, I was wondering if you guys are still free Friday."
"I think we could still do dinner!"
"Ok great-I also REALLY need to talk to you!"
"What's wrong?"
"Well can we talk in person? I don't know what to do right now."
"Ok come down to my room ok!"
"Ok!" I hung up and turned around, Spencer hugged me and it scared me."Yelp!"
"Again you're not supposed to say it! But what's going on with Maeve?"
"I don't know she needed to talk badly, and she sounded panicked!"
"Do I need to go in the bathroom again?"
"No!" She knocked at the door and I let her in, she saw Spencer and she hesitated to sit down but still did."What's going on?"
"Well I saw the news, and I saw a man that I dated for a short while, and he killed many women."
"Who was he!"
"His name was John, he was way to sweet to be a killer right?"
"I knew John too. He was completely able to kill all those people!"
"Y-you knew him?"
"Yes we dated in high school." I told her about our relationship and he looked down at the ground."So do you think he'll come for me?"
"I don't think so, I killed him!"
"I'm sorry you had to do that! Let's talk now rather than at dinner, is that ok?"
"I'm ok with that, Spencer?" He nodded and walked over to the both of us."Before Spencer came she told me what was happening and what I should do. She said that she's going to die, and I'm going to be hurt enough to die and able to be back to life. So after Spencer left, the doctors were able to bring me back, they asked me if they should call Spencer, I said no. I didn't want him to worry about me, plus I don't remember him that well so I didn't want to bother.  No one knew I was alive, than I started going by Jami Hanks so people don't assume things. After a year or so I got my memory back so I started tracking Spencer and show him I'm still alive. I went to your work one other time before the most resent, I think you were in Boston and I'm pretty sure it was you-Mackenzie but I-I saw you fall back into your chair and when you got up Spencer kissed you, I left, I didn't know how to react."
"So you've been alive the whole time?"
"Yes I'm so sorry!"
"You didn't even try and contact me in anyway?"
"No, I didn't I'm sorry."
"That's fine I need some time off work."
"I wouldn't ever guess you wanted to get off work!"
"I didn't want to but it was to hard to do anything! I practically did nothing, hardly ever talked, I couldn't do anything because you were so called 'gone'!"
"If I would have thought more into it I would have though about your feelings too. I was being so selfish!"
"At least I know what happened now!"
"Well how have you been since that day?"
"It was hard to move on, but than I got a new partner! But it was still hard!" She said goodbye than left, I kind of felt bad for her but at the same time not that much.
