"I'm waking up to ash and dust,
I wipe my brow and I sweat my rust" I sing quietly as I get ready for school.
I throw on some skinny jeans and a purple and black tank top. I put on my black Converse and grabbed my backpack, heading down stairs.
I walk in the kitchen and grabbed an orange. Nobody cook breakfast, so yeah.
I grab my phone and text Jacob to come on. We always walked together.
Jacob and I have been best friends since 7th grade. I was the new kid and he helped me out on the first day. We've been friends ever since. And it's funny how he lives two houses from me.
I grab my earphones and head out the door. I start walking, but slowly, since I was waiting for Jacob.
I decided to listen to Radioactive by Imagine Dragons. That song has been stuck in my head all morning.
"I feel it in my bones, to let my systems go." I sing along.
"Wow you cannot sing." I heard someone say.
I turn around to see Jacob.
"So. I'll still sing it anyway." I say.
"Don't make me go deaf!" Jacob says, covering his ears. I playfully punch him on the shoulder.
"Well you sing it then Mr. Angel Voice." I say. Jacob is a really good singer.
"I don't know that song. You know I mostly listen to R&B." Jacob says.
"You don't know Radioactive? That's like, my song." I say. "Just listen to it." I say. I take my earphones out my phone, so the music can play out loud. Jacob nods his head to the beat.
"I'm lovin' the beat." Jacob says.
"I know right." I say.
We continue to walk to school, listen to my favorite song.

I walk through the halls of South high. The school isn't that bad, but it's not all sunshine here.
I got to my locker and grab the things I need for my first class. My friend, Mallory, comes to her locker, which is right beside mine.
"Hey Mallory." I say.
"Hey..." Mallory says quietly.
I hate that Mallory gets bullied sometimes. I stand up for her sometimes but she needs to learn to defined for herself. I can't fight her battles all the time.
As Mallory gets her books, someone knocks her books down. I could tell it was that evil little bìtch, Bahja. She always gotta mess with somebody.
I help Mallory pick up her books.
"Why you helpin' that that little bìtch?" I hear Bahja say to me. Unlike Mallory, I will actually stand up for myself.
"How about you leave her alone." I say, getting up to face Bahja. She rolls her eyes. She makes me wanna punch her.
"Why? It's funny seeing her cry." Bahja says. Lord, I'm running out of patience.
"You know what, I don't feel like dealing with you today." I say. I see Mallory stand up with her stuff. "Come on Mallory." I say, still eyeing Bahja.
She walks off, rolling her eyes. Sometime I really want to snatch the horse hair out of her head.
Mallory and I walk into class, almost getting late. We sit in our seats, ready for what the rest of the day has to throw at us.
