This was a request.
Author's Note: I haven't done second person's point of view for over a year. I'm rereading my Hetalia Christmas Specials, the writing is atrocious XD but I've realized that second person's POV is much more fun for a reader who pictures herself/himself as the Reader.
forever
n.
a limitless amount of time (Wikipedia)
"Hey, Lukas" You stop typing and turn to your boyfriend who is busy reading a leather-bound centuries-old book he borrowed from an English friend.
He picks up his cup and merely nods. Used to his taciturn, almost dead-ish way of communication, you ask "Where do you stand on the concept of 'soul mates'?"
He sips the coffee and looks up over the cup "And this concerns your piece on the Mora Witch Trials how?"
You shrug "Just... all this research on magic and witchcraft and the supernatural. It makes me think, so where do you stand on the idea of soul mates?"
Lukas puts down the cup, glancing up in though, then at you "I don't buy it"
"Oh" You return to your computer, typing as though nothing happened.
Lukas raises his eyebrow "What?"
"Nothing. You just surprised me considering how strong your faith in fairies and elves are"
"Oh? And how about you, what's your opinion on the idea of destiny?"
You pause "Destiny. The result of a pre-determined chain of events believed to have been planned out by a greater, superhuman force beyond what we are"
Lukas resists the urge to chuckle at your rambling "Yes. That"
"Well" You gather all your hair over your shoulder, playing with it as you think "It makes for a nice story but it is a bit unfair, and even a little lazy"
"Do expand" Lukas has both elbows on the table, waiting for you to explain.
"It's like this" You begin "you have superpowers but you refuse to help others because if they're meant to die then they're meant to die"
"Valid point" He gets up and pulls his seat next to you. He leans in so close you feel your skin shiver beneath his breath "But it can also be used as a reason for undying loyalty towards a goal" He takes a lock of your hair "or a person"
"So you do believe in the soul mates thing?"
"No" He returns back to silence after he takes your hand in his, rubbing over the knuckles gently with his thumb; like he's trying to memorize the way your joints were aligned or the feeling of your skin in contact with his in fear that he may end up dead minutes later. Maybe he is.
Lukas isn't a very trusting or open person, and it can take months before he even lets anyone he just met to come less than three feet near him. You're among the exceptions. You crept your way into his system; a drug through his veins and then straight into his heart.
And you soon found yourself getting pulled deep into those mysterious cobalt eyes. Lukas has always been the perfect company for you. Quiet and observant, never raises his voice and capable of intelligent conversation.
You're the kind who happens to be well-informed in many fields and you've always been fond of sharing. You have no problem making friends, but a lot of them find your quirks annoying. Lukas, well, he loves your pieces of information—especially the ones involving his country and folklore. You enjoy debating with him and exchanging opinions. He has no problem correcting you when you're wrong, even when he knows that you will not like it.
But you love how he is honest and unbiased, and he loves how you stand up for what you think is the truth and your willingness to conform when proven wrong. A weirdo for another, one of Lukas' brothers teased, earning him a choke-fest.
After a while, you decide to finally ask "Then what is it?"
He glances up to you "What's wrong in believing that some things are just meant to be, right?" He turns you so your entire body can face him, then he places his nose on yours "Maybe it's up to us to make destiny happen"
You lean in, internally squealing at his sudden spurt of poetic romance "And you're willing to choose me for that?"
"I'll choose you. Every day and always" He whispers, placing a kiss on your forehead "Our very own forever"
Author's Note: You know, in my school mentioning the topic of "forever" is one way to start a heated debate between students and faculty. My classmates and teachers often argue about this (informally). "Is there a forever?" or "Do you believe in forever?" The bitter, heartbroken ones don't XD Yes, it's a very fun subject of debate. How about you?
