Author's note: Just finished watching What Happened to Monday (aka Seven Sisters) I highly recommend for mystery/suspense/thriller fans out there.
EDIT: If you've already watched the movie please put a spoiler warning before making comments that may reveal the storyline.
8. THE GIRL
"[Name]! [Name]! [NAME]!"
[Name] couldn't dodge fast enough and someone tackled her from behind. She could smell oil paint despite her stuffed nose. She covered her mouth, expecting bile to rise from her stomach.
Feliciano had a bad habit of invading personal space. But he meant well, never felt her up so she tolerated it.
"You didn't come to the clubroom yesterday, or the other day. I was worried!"
"Um, yeah, sorry for being inactive. But I gave Lovino my excuse letter." After Aiden Jackson's concert, she woke up the next day with a cold. The following Monday, she felt hot, but she forced herself to attend school anyway. Her parents insisted she went home immediately after classes, until the mild fever completely left. And she was more than happy to oblige; her head spun when she moved too fast and she wasn't ready to face Arthur just yet.
"I hope you'll be attend the exhibit"
"Sorry?"
His grin grew "I submitted a portfolio of my work to an art college and they sent me a letter saying they were so impressed they wanted to display my pieces at their annual art exhibit."
"That's amazing. Congratulations!" This time, she opened her arms and invited him for a hug.
"So you'll go?"
"Yes, of course. I wouldn't miss it for the world."
He squeezed her one last time before letting go, "I need to go now but I'll hand you a pamphlet later. Stop by the clubroom, okay?" He ran off waving, almost bumping into a couple of other seniors.
[Name] squinted, then she gasped. It was Francis, wobbling across the hall, hand on his face.
He stopped in front of her. She stared at Francis' swollen eye. "What happened?"
He gave her a smile in spite of his injury. "I picked on a raw nerve"
"Will you be all right?"
"Don't worry, I know my face looks delicate as any flower, but it heals so well my beauty is never tarnished."
[Name] grinned weakly. Seemed like nothing can faze him and his ego. She was glad to see he was fine, though she wanted to know who would do this; Francis wasn't known for picking fights.
"That being said, I have a favor to ask." He chuckled, "For my sake, and any other poor man that gets caught in the crossfire, clear up any misunderstandings of the heart."*
"Um, sure?" She wished he'd stop speaking in riddles. "Do you need any help getting to the infirmary?" She offered, but a third party passed them and she stilled.
"The bell's about to ring. Get to your rooms."
Arthur said curtly. [Name] opened her mouth to greet him but he walked away like she wasn't there. Her stomach churned.
Francis sighed. "No, it's all right. I can manage. See you around" He staggered towards the stairs.
Left alone, [Name] then ran to her classroom. Her classmates passed around a bag of Lay's as they laughed at the resident jokester.
