The Soccer Star

Chapter 3

When we get to our house I literally jump out of the back and sprint to the door. My running shoes are already there with my extra change of clothes. Thank you mom! I unlock the front door and sprint to the bathroom to change. I pull on my shorts, my sports bra, pull my hair into a high ponytail, and slip on my bright running shoes. I go down the stairs while strapping my phone to my arm and plugging in my headphones. I grab a water and head back out the door. For all those who are wondering what I'm doing, I'm going out for a run something I do everyday in the morning and afterschool. James and Chase run with me when they feel like it but today they are too lazy to. I start running no sorry jogging and go my usual route. Once around our neighborhood then I go into the park and start sprinting , do two laps there then head back home. My older brother Cain is at the door holding a water out to me knowing that I finished it when I was running.

" Thanks Cain." I say before kissing his cheek and heading inside.

" You have a good run? I still don't get why you do that twice every day after soccer or just school, aren't you tired?" I turn around to look at my best friend.

" One, yes I did have a good run, and two, I'm only tired if I'm stressed." I answer. " If you'll excuse me, I have to shower."

" Ok but hurry up it's Friday after all." James says putting his arm around my shoulders. He's talking about our Friday night tradition. We order take out and watch movies all night until we finally feel sleepy.

" Yass! Order Chinese and pizza I'm starving." I say as I climb up the stairs.

James laughs. " Will do Alexa." I roll my eyes. James has two nicknames for me, Alexa and Kenzie. I have two as well for him, Jay, or Gray. He mainly uses Kenzie though. I go up to my room grab a towel and head towards my attached bathroom. I turn on the shower and rinse the sweat and grime off of me. When I get out I change into a pair of shorts and a club t-shirt. I hear my door open as I'm smoothing down my shirt, I turn and see Gray.

" Hurry up Kenz the Chinese food's here," he says laying down on my bed.

" Oh,no wonder it smells good, go take a shower Gray." I say looking down at my phone.

" What? I don't smell that bad!" He says. I turn to look at him with my eyebrows raised.

" Uh yeah you do. Shower. I'm not watching the movie with you if you don't. Plus you'll sleep on the couch." I say.

He gapes at me. " Kenzie!! I always sleep next to you." He exclaims. He gives me a pout. " Who will I talk to when I wake up in the middle of the night? Or who will I cuddle with because I'm cold? Who will I-"

" Ok ok jeez. But seriously take a shower," I say cutting him off. He gets off of my bed, grabs a towel and head to the bathroom. I sigh and take my brush and run it through my hair. I put it up in a pony then head downstairs. When I get there I see Cam, my younger brother, Cain, and Adam, my other older brother, making cookies in the kitchen.

" Yay COOKIES!!!" I yell. They chuckle and put the dough in the baking sheet. I hear the doorbell ring, so I grab some money. I open the door and see the pizza man holding two pizzas in his arm.

" Two medium pepperoni pizzas?" He asks. I nod.

" That will be $18.50." I had him the money and he hands me the pizzas. I thank him and head to my room. James is still in the shower.

Wow he takes forever. Whatever more pizza for me!

Just as I'm about to bite into my pizza James comes out with a pair of sweats and a old club jersey.

" Really you were gonna start eating without me?" he asks with a pout. I roll my eyes.

" You were taking forever! Oh I already chose the movie too." I say happily. I get up from my bed as Jay sits down to put the movie on. I put it on and sprint back to my bed. I sit with my back against the wall and my legs spread out in front of me. Jay sits in the exact same position.

" Really?! This movie? How many times have we watched it?" Jay whines as the opening credits show up.

" Hey it's Catching Fire. One of the best movies in the world. I mean look at Josh Hutcherson." I say.

" No just no." Jay says while shaking his head. I laugh.

" Hey the guys are making cookies. Wanna go steal some?" I ask. He looks at me.

" Let's do it." We pause the movie and open my door. We sneak past my all my brother's rooms and down to the kitchen, where on the table is a plate full of yummy looking chocolate chip cookies. Jay keeps watch while I steal 3/4ths of the cookies. I can hear my brothers watching tv in the living room. I grab the cookies and dash towards my room. I can hear Jay mutter something under his breath while he follows me. We go back to sitting on my bed, eating cookies and pizza while watching Catching Fire.

We are halfway into the movie when we hear Cain yell. "HEY WHO STOLE OUR COOKIES?!!!!!??!" We laugh and pause the movie. We head downstairs and find Adam, Cain and Cam arguing and pointing at each other.

" Guys!" I scream. They all turn to look at me. " What going on? You made us pause the movie!"

" Well Cam here decided that he would eat most of the coo-" Cain starts.

" Nuh uh! It was Adam! He was saying about how much he wanted to eat them so he probably sneaked into the kit-" Cam argues but Adam interrupts him.

" I didn't do anything. It was you! You left to got to the bathroom and you must've gone to the kitchen to grab some cookies. It wa-" Adam says but I interrupt.

" Ok well I can see this is going to go nowhere so I'm just going to say who did it." I say.

" Kenz are you sure?" Jay says from behind me. I nod.

" It was Chase." I say. They all look towards the stairs and then at each other. In a flash Cain is already on the stairs and yelling Chases' name.

" CHASE! COME HERE YOU PIECE OF SHIT!" Cain yells.

" Cain watch your language. Cam's with you!" I say.

" SORRY! I MEANT CHASE YOU IDIOT! COME HERE!" He yells back. I roll my eyes.

I turn to Jay who is shaking his head in amusement. " Come on Gray let's go finish the movie." He nods and we head back to my room which is right next to Chase's' so we can hear my brothers yelling at him. We enter my room and I close the door to block out my brother's yelling. Jay presses play right as I sit down. We eventually finish the movie and by the time we do it's one am. I tie my curly black hair in a ponytail and get ready for bed. Jay does the same and we both go out to say goodnight. My dad got home around 11 so he's still up. My dad's a lawyer for a bunch of people. We see him but he gets home late sometimes. We find him in his study.

" Hey dad?" I say once we get there. He turns.

"Alex! James! You guys gonna go to sleep?" he asks. We nod.

" Ok, well goodnight. I'll see you guys in the morning." I hug him and leave. James does the same and we head back to my room. On the way I check on Chase to make sure he's not dead. We step into his room only to find him sleeping peacefully with his earphones in. We quietly shut the door and walk into my room. Jay gets in first to his side, then I get in.

"Kenz?"

"Yeah?"

" I love you"

" I love you too Jay. Night."
