When I woke up in the morning, I immediately sensed something wrong. I turned on my side and wasn't greeted my the sleeping face of my best friend. I get up and check the time. 9:15. I walk downstairs to the kitchen. Cam is there eating cereal, Adam is eating a bagel. And Jay, being the perfect best friend is making coffee and pancakes.

" Why did you leave me alone?" I say while pouting. " You never get up early."

Jay laughs. " Sorry Kenz, I woke up earlier for some reason. I made your favorite." With that I look down at the stack of pancakes on my plate. Chocolate chip! Cam was trying to steal one from me. I slap his hand away.

"Hey! That hurt! I forgot you don't hit like a girl!" Cam exclaims.

" One, that's offensive, and two, my pancakes!" I say. Jay and Adam laugh as Chase comes down.

" Ok ok calm down animals. How was your first week of school?" I hear my dad say from behind us.

" It was good. Tryouts were fantastic! I have most of my classes, correction ALL of my classes with the idiot of my twin and Jay." I say.

" Alexandra, why did you call your brother an idiot?" I hear my mother say. I groan.

" Sorry mom."

" Hi Keith. Hi Evelyn." Jay says. Oh yeah he's here. I forgot while I was eating my pancakes.

" Hello James."

" Hey do any of you guys think I'm going to get on the team?" I question as my whole family comes and sits at the table. A chorus of duhs and of courses go around the room. Saturdays the whole family is free, so we always do something. Today we are going to the park to picnic. Jay is basically family so he always comes along.

" Alright Parkers and Jackson. We are leaving in a hour. Go get ready." My dad orders. We all race upstairs. Jay goes to his drawer and pulls out his shirt and some shorts. Its really hot for some reason and it's only September. I pull on some athletic shorts and my old school soccer t-shirt. You know the one from freshman year, when there was a girls team. I put some socks on then put on my Nike running shoes. We are ready in a few minutes.

" Hey Kenz? I gotta go talk to Chase for bit. You gonna be alright?"

" Yeah! I'll be fine. I gotta facetime Maddie either way." and with that he leaves. I grab my phone and facetime Maddie.

" HEY GIRL!!!!" Maddie screams once she answers.

I laugh." Hey! What's up?"

"Oh you know, being bored. I have a date! His name's Matt and we met while I was working my shift at SDC" SDC stands for Super Delicious Coffee. It's the local coffee shop here. We both have shifts there. Mine are Mondays from 3pm-8pm Wednesdays from 3pm- 8pm, and Sunday mornings from 8am- noon. But my boss doesn't like me so I don't go in much.

" Dude seriously? We've only been in school for a week! Wait does he go to our school?"

" Ummmmm welllll... "

" Madeline Kennedy Smith! Are you dating someone older!?"

" ...maybe"

"Maddie! You know what I don't care. I have to go. We are going to the picnic soon. "

" Okay! Bye!"

"Bye!" We hang up just as Jay walks back into the room.

"Come on lazy butt, we're leaving."

"No, I don't want to get up." I say. Jay rolls his eyes. Then he walks over and picks me up bridal style.

" Jay!"
