Dustin's POV

Once Leah left all hell broke loose.  Abby got grouchy, my mom went off the wall yelling at me.  All because of me not wanting her to stay for dinner.  I mean what is so cool about her?  She's no different from any of the other girls I brought home.

"Dustin, clearly you don't know girls other than the ones that want to sleep with you," my mom mumbled as she put a bowl of chicken soup in front of Abby who smiled softly before taking a spoonful.  I slammed my hand on the table in frustration.  There was nothing special about Leah.

"Mom why are you treating her as royalty?  She's a nerd, a nobody!" I shouted starting to get angry.  That's when my mom slapped me across the face.  She fucking bitch slapped me.  I glanced at Abby who had dropped her spoon in her bowl, her mouth open wider than when she tries to stuff her face with cotton candy.

My mom took a few deep breaths before speaking through gritted teeth, "You clearly don't see that she has a hard life outside of school," my mom started, letting go of her grip on the counter, "Dustin I've been looking at her very closely.  She wears long sleeves and long pants, she's sensitive when someone yells, she's always jumpy, too polite for a teenager if you ask me.  I don't know what happens at her house, but you're not helping her case by acting like a fucking monster," she finished as calmly as she could.

I thought for a moment.  My mom was right about everything.  I glanced at Abby, who was sipping softly on her soup.  Then I looked at my mom who was getting a plate full of the food she made for dinner, after I looked at my hands and sighed softly.

"Leah, what are you doing to me?"

Leah's POV

I woke up the next morning gasping for air, I was drenched in sweat, my whole body shaking in fear.  I looked at the time on my phone, 3:14.  Letting out a long sigh I calmed myself down and got up out of my bed and walked downstairs, getting a glass of ice water.  After I gulped it down I laid back on my bed, trying to go back to sleep.

Thirty minutes pass and I decide to go ahead and give up.  I got up and planned out my outfit for today.  Luckily today was Friday, meaning no one is going to pay attention to anything except the clock all day.  Do they even know if they stare at the clock the time is going to go by slower.  Fucking idiots.

I went into my closet and rummaged around, trying to find something decent to wear.  I settled on a long black turtleneck sweater, dark skinny jeans and my favorite grey flats.  Once I laid everything out on my bed I walked into the bathroom, playing Not Broken Anymore by Blue October on my phone before I got into the shower.  I sighed as the warm water ran down my back, washing away all the pain of last weeks beating.  I looked down at myself, not seeing any bruises, the cuts were almost fully healed, and the red marks from being his numerous times were also gone.

When I got out of the shower I turned down the music a bit and wrapped a towel around myself, wiping the steam off of my mirror with my hand.  I walked into my room and dried myself off, getting dressed and wrapping the towel tight against my hair before letting it drop to the floor.  Plopping back onto my bed I went through my phone.  I noticed I had three new messages.  They were all sent while I was in the shower, so I knew it wasn't Kelly since she's never up on Thursday nights, she sleeps in actually, only to stay up late on Friday night.

I sighed and looked at the messages.  They were all sent from Dustin:

Dustin: Hey Nerd, I just wanted to say I'm sorry for acting like such a bitch.  I should have let you stay for dinner.

I smiled softly at his apology, reading the next message he sent only a minute after.

Dustin: We're doing the project at your house today so you can't run away this time.  There's something I want to talk to you about.

My smile quickly faded.  This 'talk' can't be good.  I scrolled to the last message with more caution than ever.

Dustin: Oh, and my mom is making me pick you up for school to prove I'm sorry.  We're stopping for breakfast on the way.  Meet me outside your house at four, it takes a little bit to get there.

I felt myself tearing up a bit.  I've never been out to a restaurant in years, I'm deathly afraid of eating in front of people, I'm always scared they'll judge me, but I had to be polite.  This was only going to happen once, after this project he won't talk to me, he won't text me.  It'll all go back to normal after the school year is done, maybe sooner if we get this done faster.  I realized I hadn't replied yet, so I opened my phone typing the first response I could think of:

You: It's okay, I forgive you.  I'll see you at four I guess.

After I hit send I checked the time seeing I had fifteen minutes before he got here.  But one question was still spinning through my head.

How did he know I was awake?

Heyo!

I know this chapter is shorter than my other ones, but I figured to save the rest of Dustin's story for the next chapter.  Along with their 'date' or 'apology' whatever you want to call it.  Annnyways, I'll work on a new update soon.  I'll either have it up on Monday (MY BIRTHDAY FAQ YAS) or later.  Maybe even sooner, who knows ;) I've also noticed I haven't been making updates at 3am XD my ever so kind sister promised not to tell le mom about me sneaking on here for updates.

Anywho have a good day!!
