Dustin's POV
"Leah, what are you doing to me?" I muttered to myself as I got my food and sat down, eating as fast as I could. I did my best to ignore the conversation my sister and mom were having, giving simple answers when asked a question. I helped with the dishes, course I had to, it was my day.
Once I finished I put the dishes away and walked into my room, laying on my bed with a frustrated sigh. I played The Let Down byThe White Tie Affair as I looked through the things I learned about Leah. She didn't know I wrote down her answers in the notes on my phone. Most of her answers were simple, some were extremely detailed as well. One answer stuck out to me though:
Q: What's your least favorite memory?
A: There are a lot of memories I don't like, most are recent, but my least favorite has to be when my mom passed.
I stared at the answer for a few minutes. What doesn't she want to remember that's so recent? Was it because of me? Had I really acted so rude towards her?
I checked the time and realized it was almost two in the morning. I looked back at my notes and decided to text Leah. I was surprised she read it. I didn't think she would actually be awake at this time.
After a bit I got her answer and smiled a bit. I got up and decided to take a shower and get dressed. Once I was done with my shower I looked through my closet and grabbed a black tee-shirt and my favorite leather jacket. I quickly grabbed a pair of dark blue jeans and got dressed. I put my shoes on and laid back on my bed, waiting for it to be four.
Once it was 3:30 I got up and put a note on the kitchen counter, letting my mom know where I was so I didn't get a lecture after school. After putting the note on the counter I got into my car and drove to Leah's house. I just hope she didn't fall asleep.
Leah's POV
I relaxed back on my bed as I waited for Dustin to come and pick me up, but while I waited I kept thinking as to why he was doing this. Did his sister give him a very cutely annoying lecture? Did his mom give him a lecture? Is he on drugs? Did he hit his head? Or is he simply being nice for once? So many thoughts were going through my head, but of course they were interrupted by my phone going off. I groaned and grabbed it seeing a message from Dustin saying that he's here.
I got up and looked in the mirror, sucking in a very deep breath and letting it out slowly. Grabbing my purse and wallet I walked out the door, very scared as to what would happen today. I flinched when I saw Dustin leaning against the side of the railing by the front door. He let out a soft chuckle before standing up straight and looking at me with what I think is a smile.
"Ready to go?" He asked taking a slight step back when he noticed we were an inch away from touching. I gave him a simple nod and shifted my weight from one foot to the other. Once he turned around and made his way to his car I sucked in another deep breath and followed him. Dustin walked to the passenger side and opened the door for me. Of course I thought he was going to close it when I got to it, but no, he waited for me to get in and closed the car door once I was buckled.
I was getting more and more confused at the nice gestures, but I brushed it off thinking that was a one time thing, that he will treat me as a piece of trash, like he used to. Once he was in the drivers seat and placed the key in the ignition I looked out the window as he drove. I looked at his CD's and picked one up.
"You like All Time Low?" I asked, looking at the case, turning it over and looking through the songs. It was their Future Hearts album.
"Yeah. If you want you can look through the rest of them and put one in. I like all of them so I don't care what you pick." He said, still looking at the road. I smiled to myself and dug through the many CD's he owned. I liked them all, but I didn't know what to pick so I closed my eyes and grabbed one at random, not looking at it as I put it in the player.
