Leah's POV
I didn't know why I told him everything if I'm being completely honest, but it felt really good to get it all out to someone. When he hugged me I was very surprised, but I hugged him back. I hid my face of course since I probably looked like shit from all this crying.
Dustin's hugs felt very warm and protecting, like I was in danger and he was saving me. It felt great. I sniffled and took some time to savor the moment before I pulled away from the hug, but by the looks of it, it felt like Dustin didn't want to let go, but he did anyways.
After he moved back to his seat our food arrived. Dustin ordered the same thing as I did, but I didn't even know what it was, all I know was that it looked really good. When it arrived I saw it was toast with cinnamon, sugar, and what I assumed was syrup. Once I took a bite I smiled in complete satisfaction. It wasn't too sweet, but it was definitely good.
I glanced up at Dustin who was staring at me. I didn't think much of it so I kept eating, and before I knew it, I was finished. I took a gulp of lemonade and looked at Dustin who had already finished.
"Ready to go?" He asked, I simply nodded and stood up, grabbing my jacket and putting it on, he did the same and went to the front to pay the bill. I waited by the front door shyly, holding the sides of my jacket tight around me. It was quite cold this time of year so I was practically freezing my ass off standing here. I couldn't wait to get into the car and blast the heat.
Dustin's POV
Leah ate her food like she hasn't eaten in weeks. I was really starting to worry about her. No. I was not going to fall for the schools nerd. I only did this to get answers, nothing more, nothing less. I'm going to go back to my normal self, Leah was starting to change me, and I wasn't going to stand for it.
Once I paid the bill I walked out the door, not bothering to hold it for Leah. I walked to the car and got into the drivers seat. I saw her walking to the car, looking almost hurt, like she regretted something. Leah didn't have to tell me anything, she brought this upon herself. She got into the car silently, buckling in once again.
She looked out the window the whole time, holding her jacket around her. I gripped the steering wheel tighter, getting angry with myself. If my feelings for her were like this I was going to have to tell her. I knew she felt the same, she just hasn't admitted it to herself quite yet, but I needed to try and get over her. I have a reputation to keep up with.
"I have to cancel today. I'm going to Lisa's house after school," I told her. I could have sworn I saw her freeze when I said Lisa's name, but she just nodded, still looking out the window. I sighed and kept driving, staying silent the rest of the ride to school. I decided to take the long route since we would have been pretty early taking the short cut.
Once we got in the parking lot Leah got out of the car as fast as she could, rushing into school. Had I really upset her by suddenly changing my attitude like that. She wasn't kidding about what she said before, and I wasn't helping by acting like a complete asshole. I shook it off and went up to Lisa, wrapping my arm around her waist.
"Mind if I come over after school?"
Leah's POV
I should have known this was going to happen. To think I was actually falling for him, ha. That fucking idiot? Yeah, as if I'd like an ass like him. I was so caught up in the moment I just slipped. Yet why do I feel so hurt?
I shook it off and walked to my locker, grabbing my stuff and walking to Kelly who had a huge grin spread across her face. I looked at her, slightly scared as to why she was smiling. I knew this smile, she was planning something. "So, we're going to my house after school to get ready for the party."
"Party?"
She sighed and leaned against her locker, "There's a party at Elijah's house this weekend and we're going," she stated. Before I could protest she spoke again, "I will make you go if you refuse," I just sighed and walked into class.
The day went the same as usual, boring lectures in class, sharing a lunch with Kelly, taking a pop quiz in math. Before I knew it, the last bell of the day rang and I was out of class and waiting by Kelly's locker in record time. I forgot to mention that I avoided Dustin all day. I didn't even bother to look at him I was so upset.
Maybe this shopping trip will help me get my mind off of him. Boy was I wrong.
//A/N//
Sorry for the really short chapter. I have a serious case of writers block. I'll have a better one next chapter, I promise. I have this book planned out, I just don't know how to present it. If you get what I mean.
Anywho enough rambling. Have a good night.
