Our last scan before the big day. It wasn’t long now; our babies were healthy and beautiful with strong little hearts. They loved most when their daddy spoke to them, laying and talking into my skin. It was if we could imagine them smiling in their swimming pool inside my womb. We were in the car, and I saw it coming. The car in front, it wasn’t stopping. It smashed into us and my body was propelled forward. My stomach pressed hard in the seat belt and I screamed. My head lolled to the side as the belt was pulled off. I could hear ringing as I saw a blurred version of you above me. Mouthing my name over the static. I looked down, squinting. I was bleeding. Panicking, pain shot through my body. Making me spasm. A man from another car called an ambulance as you screamed my name. The darkness swallowed me.
