Will picked up his tray and moved to the lunch table he always sat at. A few of his friends were already there waiting. He sat down in his usual spot and began eating. While he was finishing his sandwich a boy with black hair came over.
"Is it ok if I sit here?" He said in a small voice, "I'm new."
"Sure, there is a spot next to me if you want." Said Will.
Two of Will's friends glared at him if he just made the worst choice ever.
"OK thanks," said the boy.
"So whats your name? I'm Will,"
"Nico," the boy said.
Will looked him in the eyes as he spoke and thought he saw a mix of emotion run through them. Relief, grief, sadness, heartbreak, desire? He couldn't be positive of if what he saw was true, but he felt bad for Nico. He vowed to himself to take care of him and make sure he feels welcome and happy.
RRRIIINNNGGGG. The bell calls to dismiss us from lunch. As Nico get up to throw out his trash he slips and falls hard on the ground, scraping his hand. All the other kids exept Will snicker and giggle. Will swooped down and picked Nico up and said "Come on I'll take you to the Nurse." As he walked out and stepped into the hall he put his arm around Nico to steady him.
"I'm fine really!" Nico protested.
"No, I'm taking you to the Nurses," Said Will.
After Nico was checked out at the Nurses office Will took him to his first class.
"I can find my way myself," retorted Nico.
"Doctors orders," He replied.
