* I'm the Chosen One?! *

"What?!" I gasped in pure shock. Rob nodded.

"You're going to save my magical fairy kingdom," he whispered, his eyes huge. "I'm the prince, and you're the only who can save us!"

"Uh." I hesitated for a moment. "Can I pass on this one?"

He gripped my wrist tighter. "Mary, Mary Sue, you are the only one who can save us, please, it's your destiny!" he wailed. "It's written in the stars!"

"Bullshit, I see nothing in the bloody stars."

"It's a figure of speech!"

"Whatever. So, what do I have to do?"

He sat upright, and the red magical glow disappeared. People just stood around gaping as we had this completely ordinary everyday conversation in the middle of the cafeteria. Wow, people can be rude.

From his pocket, he produced a controller with a massive red button on it.

"Please," he breathed, beseeching me with his gaze. "Press the red button of destiny, the red button that only the special snowflake chosen one can press, and you will save us! Please!"

"Okay." I took the controller and pressed the button. There was a small click as the button lowered, then rose to it's normal position. Everyone held their breaths.

Nothing happened.

"Thank you!" Rob burst out, tears streaming down his face. "We are saved from the mysterious dark threat that I hadn't previously mentioned."

"No problem," I said.

"As a token of the fairy kingdoms gratitude, I shall give you a gift." From his other pocket, he gave me a necklace with a dark blue pendant attached to it. It was cool under my fingers. "If you are ever in trouble, just put this under your left armpit, and help shall come in the most unexpected of ways!"

I turned the pendant over in my hand, reading the words carved in gold on the back.

"Plot device," I read out. "What does that even mean?"

He shrugged. "No idea. Anyways. I'm out of here." Waving his hand, red glowing magic spilled out of his fingers, wrapping around everyone in the room except me. "That'll help them forget everything that happened." He winked. "Until we meet again, Mary Sue."

Then he disappeared into thin air.

"Oh my God," I whisper. "I was the chosen one."

Everyone returned to doing whatever the hell they were doing, Rob's magic obviously working it's... magic. The absence of Rob created a deep dark hole inside my soul. I wasn't sure how I would live without him. I wiped a tear away from my eyes, and Archer McHottie offered a hand to help me up.

Okay. Archer McHottie was still really hot.

"Thanks," I said shyly, forgetting for a moment that I still had to kill him.

Oh yeah. I still have to kill him.

I wasn't worried, though. As he helped me up, and I walked back to my table, I was plotting. Planning. I would get Archer McHottie, and I would kill him. I would just have to be really clever.

I could do anything. Besides, I was the chosen one.
