The two benders slowly made their way back to camp, walking side by side. The smaller of the two cracked a few jokes, plastering a fake smile on his face while his mind wandered to the events of the previous fire bending practice.
Why did he take my "breaking up" with Katara so light heartedly? I would of thought his reaction would have been one of confusion, not happiness. Aang thought to himself, then gasped. What if he... no, he couldn't! Could he possibly like Katara? Is that why he was so happy?
Aang was so caught up in his horrifying thoughts that he didn't realize the scarred boy waving his hand in front of his face.
"Hey, Aang, earth to Aang." The fire prince said in confusion, bending down to look Aang in the eyes.
"Huh, wha-" He started, but was silenced by the view of bright golden eyes centimetres away from his face.
"You looked like someone just stepped on Momo. Are you okay?" Zuko asked, placing a hand on his shoulder.
"I-" he was saved from embarrassment by Toph.
"Oi, love birds, time for dinner!" she called out, sending a wink their way. Aang was thankful for the darkness that had begun to surround them, for if it hasn't existed, Zuko surely would've seen his blush.
With a small smile, Zuko stood up straight and began to walk towards the fire, grabbing Aang's hand.
He was thankful for the darkness one more.
