when fire meets air

Chapter 9: Zuko

When Zuko thought this day couldn't get any worse, Aang just thought it would be fun to throw another curveball.
After he had changed into his underwear, he found the Avatar's eyes pinned to his scarred body. He couldn't tell if it was with pity or utter disgust, but he knew that something was burning behind his eyes.
"Get in the water, " he heard Aang say with a shaky voice. Zuko raised an eyebrow, but obliged and slunk into the surprisingly freezing water.
"Fuck it's cold," He groaned and swam slowly over to a cliff at the far end of the pond, which was not like a lake. He wrapped his arms around himself and focused on his breathing, and much to his surprise, his body heated up quickly.

"Hey, come back here!" Aang whined and swam over. A mischievous grin then passed over his face and suddenly Zuko was covered in water.
"What the- you little shit!" The fire prince screamed and splashed him with water back. This began a war of them splashing each other back and forth (though Aang had an advantage which Zuko totally thought was unfair).
Eventually, Zuko got Aang cornered against the stone of the waterfall that was pouring down behind them.
"I think I've caught the avatar now." He smirked and put his hands on his hips
"I, uh, I don't think so..." Just as Aang raised his hands to push him away with water bending, Zuko reached forward and grabbed his wrists in one hand, pinning them to the stone behind him.
"You we're saying?" He smirked. He only now realized how he screwed himself over since their faces were merely inches apart.
Aang had turned the brightest shade of red that would put any fire nation flag to shame. He could see him trying to form words, but knew that he was not going to be able to.
The avatar's long eyelashes tickled against his red cheeks whenever he blinked, which was quite often.
He didn't know whether it was their physical closeness, or whether or not he could feel the avatar's heard pounding in his chest, but almost as if on impulse, he leaned forward and gently pressed his lips against Aang's.

Holy fuck what am I doing?

Sorry it took so long for me to update, I just went into my last year of high school and have had to deal with a lot of mental issues but I'm all good now!! I started dating this guy who actually makes me feel like I'm worth something which is a first so I'm super super happy about that :) I don't know how often imma update but I'm going to try to do so as soon as possible, though I think I'm going to end this story soon!
