Chapter 22

"It's a date," Sara said. She stared at me seriously from my cellphone screen as she slouched from the couch in a cozy looking ski cottage living room from where she was in Alaska. Then she grabbed a handful of potato crisps from the bag that she settled on her belly and munched on them noisily. Classy, I know...
"It's not a date," I argued, while waving a chew toy in front of Puppy Alex's face. He jumped and moved from side to side in excitement.
"Oh, right," Sara rolled her eyes. "Guy asks girl to go to the movie. Girl agrees. Guy and girl both have feelings for each other. It's definitely a date."
"I strongly disagree on the last two sentences," I frowned at her. I threw the chew toy across the living room, and Puppy Alex went on a mad dash to retrieve it. "This is just another of his crazy schemes," I shrugged.
"Then why did you agree to go with him then?"
I didn't answer.
"It's a date," Sara said with finality.

I finally sat down in relief, then groaned in annoyance at the thought of fixing my closet after Sara virtually raided it. When I say virtually raided, I mean she nagged on about what I should wear and made me show her every single clothing I owned.
Sara finally decided on a knee-length wool swing skirt paired with a sweater blouse. Simple, but cute, as she mentioned. I thought so too, but that was because I really couldn't match my clothing even if my life depended on it. Shirts and jeans were absolutely the best of my abilities, and if I didn't spill any of the movie details to Sara, I would probably go in a weird t-shirt and worn-out jeans.
"So, Alex," I said, pulling Puppy Alex to my lap, "I'm going out tonight. You watch over the flat, okay?" I giggled when he paid no attention to my words and just licked at my fingers. I checked the clock, stating that it was already past eight, which meant Alex would be here soon.
I was in the middle of a snuggling session with Puppy Alex when there was a knock on my front door. I knew then who it was judging by how Alex jumped out of my arms, zoomed to the front door, and began barking angrily. I got on my feet and picked him up, rubbing his stomach to calm him down.
Once he piped down, I opened the door, revealing a stylishly dressed Alex. The most casual thing he wore was the black beanie that settled lazily on his styled hair. I was starting to rethink this movie thing.
"You actually look nice," Alex nodded approvingly. "It's comforting to know you own a blouse other than t-shirts with smart-ass prints on them."
I let out a dry laugh. "You look... like you're going on a fashion show for Penshoppe or something," I commented. "The hell, man? I look like a peasant next to Kim K."
Alex bent over in full on laughter. "These are my fancy clothes," he gestured to his figure. "Besides, it's a great start for your first date. On my first date , which was also to the movies, my ex-girlfriend wore heels. Heels. And she tripped on the way to our seats."
I blinked, "And the point of that story is? Also, how do you know that it's my first date?"
"Oh, please," Alex rolled his eyes. "No boyfriend since birth, no first kiss, and I'm the only guy you've been pining on since middle school. I'm pretty sure this is your first date."
"Shut up, and let's go."

"Which movie then, mademoiselle?" Alex asked once he got to the movie house.
