C'mon, Erza, stay with us........I need you, thought Gray. Gray took Erza's condition harder than any of the others, and it was tearing him apart. The wizards rushed Erza to the village healer, and the news she gave them was not at all what they wanted to hear. According to the Poppy Village healer, Erza was too drained to wake up, and she wouldn't wake up until the life force she lost was replenished.

"Can I give her mine?" asked Gray.

"No," replied the healer. "It has to be her own life force. When your friend attacked the demon, she put her life force into her attack. That means her life force went into the demon, and killed it from the inside. You're obviously too late to collect the magic particles the demon left behind when it died, so you must travel to the demon world to retrieve what was lost, or the requip mage will die."

"Wait," said Lucy, confused, "I thought the demon was dead."

"It died in your world," the healer responded. "When demons 'die', they simply go back to their world and become trapped there for eternity. They can no longer enter this realm, or any other. If you travel to the demon world, and find the demon you slew, a fragment of your friend's magic and life force will still be lodged in its heart. You can remove it and then use it to revive her."

"Will you watch over her for us?" inquired Gray.

"Of course, for as long as it takes," said the healer.

"Alright, guys, we have to. Just like she said she would, she fought until just about the end, so we have to do this for her. We can't stop trying until she's been saved, no matter what it costs us. She was so ready to give up her life for us, that we must be prepared to do the same," Gray eagerly and readily said to his guild mates.

"You're right, Gray. We'll do it!" said Natsu and Lucy.

Happy just said, "Aye, sir!"

And with that, the three friends and their exceed attempted to prepare themselves for the journey of a lifetime--a journey to the demon realm--but nothing, nothing, could prepare them for what they saw when they got there.
