Several months had passed since Gray and Erza's solo mission together. Valentine's Day was once again upon them, and the guild was preparing like crazy. Mira was in charge of organizing the events of the day. Levy was in charge of decorating. The exceeds were helping hang banners and lights, etc. Everyone was eager to help out, mainly because Master Makarov threatened them if they didn't.
When the big day finally came, everyone was excited, but also scared, given Mira's history as a matchmaker. The first event of the day was the Matching Game. Everyone picked a name out of a hat, and that person was their partner for the day. The game was for everyone to sit in a circle and guess who everyone's partner was. The only people who knew were the partners. The turns were decided by spinning an arrow on a heart-shaped board. Whoever the arrow landed on was allowed to pick any one person other than their partner. They were then given one hint, and then one guess.
The arrow landed on Gray first.
"Alright," he said. "I pick..." he grinned mischievously, "...Natsu!"
"DAMN IT POPSICLE PRINCESS!" Natsu exclaimed. "I'LL GET YOU BACK FOR THIS!"
"The hint, Natsu," Gray smirked.
"UGH! Fine. She's blonde and um-er-really, really pretty," he said.
"Oh! That's easy, fire breath, your partner's Lucy."
"Oi! How'd you know?" Natsu asked.
"Well, the blonde part was the biggest tipoff, but the really pretty part convinced me. It's no secret you like her."
"WHAT?! NO I DON'T! YOU TAKE THAT BACK!"
"I WON'T! YOU KNOW IT'S TRUE!"
"ENOUGH!" yelled Master Makarov.
"Sorry, gramps," they both muttered.
The next arrow landed on Lucy
"I pick Levy!" she cheerfully exclaimed.
"His name rhymes with an alloy of his element," Levy hinted.
"Umm..." Lucy thought for a while. "Oh! Steel! Gajeel! Like Black Steel Gajeel! I get it."
"Yup!" Levy smiled, while Gajeel looked as grumpy as ever.
Next was Erza. Everyone shifted in fear. With Erza, you never knew what would happen. She smiled devilishly.
"Mira, I choose you," she stated.
"Oh, um, well, my partner is, he, um," was Mira's broken response.
"Oh, that's all the hint I need!" said Erza. "Who would Mirajane Strauss be embarrassed to name, except for her crush...say, Laxus, perhaps?"
"Damn," Laxus cursed.
Mira just blushed furiously. The game continued until the arrow finally landed on Natsu.
"HAHA I PICK GRAY!" he yelled.
"About time...my partner's hair corresponds to her last name. We've been friends since we were children. She's the strongest person I know, and I greatly respect her," Gray said.
"Umm..." Natsu thought for a while.
"OH MY GOD NATSU! YOU'RE SO FREAKING DENSE THEY'RE THE LAST TWO PEOPLE IT'S ERZA!" the whole guild screamed.
"Oh...hehe," Natsu blushed.
