Chapter One

June 25, 2014

"So how's everything been?" Solange asked Beyoncé as the two of them sat in the twenty three year old's bedroom in Houston, Texas.

"It's been good," Beyoncé responded with a slight shrug to her shoulders.

"Good and a shrug?"

Bey laughed softly at her younger sister. It took a little bit, but Bey had actually warmed up to the idea of having a younger sister. It wasn't like Solange was going to allow the twenty eight year old to just dismiss her. It was the end of June, which meant that Bey wasn't working. It was summer vacation, which was more than helpful for her. She hadn't been doing a single thing since the graduation, except enjoying her life. That also meant enjoying Shawn's company.

"Isn't he coming over here later?" Solange asked with a weird look.

"More than likely. We're leaving this weekend, remember?"

"I remember. How's the baby mama drama going?"

"There is no baby mama drama."

"Ah, she calmed her hot box?"

"Hot box?" Bey questioned curiously. She'd never heard of a hot box before.

"Hot pocket?" Solange asked, hoping to refresh Bey's memory.

"What does a hot pocket have to –"

"Beyoncé her vagina. She calmed her hot ass vagina."

"What in the world?" They heard from the door.

Both heads turned to find Tina standing there with a shocked expression. Bey couldn't help the laugh that came out of her mouth.

"Solange is apparently teaching me slang."

"Mama, she's so...proper."

"I'm an English teacher!"

"Don't worry about her, Bey. Are you staying for dinner?"

It took her a moment to decide on the answer, simply because she wasn't aware of Shawn's plans. He opted to stay at the hotel longer, due to Bey leaving early in the morning to do some shopping with Solange. The girls went shopping a seven in the morning, simply because Solange was telling her about a sale that had good deals. Shawn kept reminding her that she could simply wait until later, and he'd pay for everything, but Bey wanted the experience with her little sister.

"I'll have to check with Shawn, first," she respectfully told Tina.

"Check with?" Solange asked almost immediately.

Bey laughed and pushed her gently. "Shut up. She knows what I mean."

"I do," Tina responded, dismissing Solange's jokes. "Just let me know."

"I will."

Tina exited the room, leaving Solange and Bey. Bey climbed out of the bed and went to retrieve her iPhone from the nightstand. She entered her pass code and immediately went to Shawn's contact name.

"Hey," Shawn answered the phone.

"Hey. What are you doing?"

Bey could hear the constant movement in the background. "Getting ready to come to you."

"Are we eating dinner here?"

"I wanted a private dinner, if that's okay with you."

She cheesed a bit. "That's fine with me. I just wanted to know. You talk to Ash?"

"Yeah. Christina Facetimed me earlier."

"Oh that's good. Well, hurry up, Solange getting on my nerves."

"Girl bye!" Solange responded, causing both Shawn and Bey to laugh.

"I'll come rescue you in a bit."

"Alright," Bey said before ending the call. She slid her phone into her pocket and looked over to Solange.

"Don't you have a date tonight?"

Solange nodded her head. "I guess."

"You...guess?"

"Yes. I guess."

Bey smirked. "You haven't talked to him today?"

"Nope."

"Stop being petty and text him, Solange."

"He's the one trying to take me on the date!"

"So?!"

Solange gave Beyoncé a side eye that was all too familiar to her. Bey's smile slowly crept on her face. It was something that she did when she realized that her and Solange had something in common.

"I hate when you do that," Solange mumbled.

Bey laughed. "Do what?"

"You look at me and then start smiling. That shit is weird as hell, Bey."

Bey laughed harder than before. "Whatever," she mumbled before hearing the doorbell. It was followed by Mathew calling her name.

Bey exited Solange's upstairs bedroom and walked down the stairs to greet her man with a kiss on the lips.

"Hi," she greeted before a soft giggle.

"Hey. You ready to go?" She was asked.

Bey nodded as she grabbed her purse from the closet and immediately left out after saying her goodbyes. She'd see them again before leaving back with Shawn.

"Where are we going?"

They had been in the car, driving for the longest time, but he didn't tell her where they were going.

"Out. Did you want to change first?"

Bey looked down at her attire before nodding her head. "Yeah. But first you need to tell me how to dress."

"Something cute, yet sexy."

"Sexy as in dress sexy?"

Shawn thought about it for a moment. "That'll work. Summer dresses work, as well."

Bey nodded her head as she leaned back and enjoyed the ride to their hotel. Once there, she changed into a black fit and flare dress that Shawn had bought her two weeks ago.

"You're actually wearing it," he commented.

Bey blushed and looked into the mirror. The dress was a perfect fit, which shocked her. She hadn't told him her size or anything. He came over one day and surprised her with the dress. Had she not already been dressed, she would've worn it that day.

"It's beautiful."

"Just like the person wearing it," Shawn commented as he wrapped his arms around Bey's slender waist.

He buried his face into her honey blonde colored hair, causing her to giggle.

"Can we go?" She interrupted.

"Fine. Let's go, rude ass."

The couple left the hotel and immediately found themselves at a restaurant that was unique to the both of them.

"You had me dress up for this?" Bey asked Shawn after looking around. It was a very casual restaurant. There was a group that was singing their behinds off.

"You'll enjoy yourself. You want a drink?" He asked.

Bey thought about it before nodding her head. They found a table in the middle and Shawn ordered them both drinks and food.

The song selection had captivated Bey's heart. They sang En Vogue's "Don't Let Go", Whitney's version of "I'm Every Woman", and Anita Baker's "Caught Up In The Rapture". Bey had gotten so into it that she had Shawn dancing with her while she sang along with the group.

Ever since they had gotten together, it was like this. They always found places where they could just forget about everything, and be happy. Drinks didn't play a big part in what they did, and it wasn't all about sex anymore. They were bettering themselves and each other, all while living in the moment.
