Her, too
Chapter Fifteen
October 7, 2014
His body felt amazing. She felt safer in his arms. It was something that she had missed and desired since it was taken from her. His breathing allowed her to know that he was still sound asleep, but she wasn't. She had to go to work. Her life still had to go on. She couldn't call out due to something like this. Money had to be made, and children had to be taught.
Bey looked up and confirmed that he was still sleeping. She looked around for her phone and saw that it was at the edge of the bed. Cautiously, she leaned forward and picked it up. Her battery was thankfully still there, since she hadn't used it. School had already been in session for two hours. Of course she had calls from the principal, but she also had texts and calls from Boris. He had informed her that he covered for her. All he needed to know was that she was fine.
"Are you leaving?" Shawn asked in a groggy voice.
"I have to go to work," she explained as she put in her pass code.
"I wanted to finish our conversation," Shawn responded while sitting up. Bey looked back at him and sighed.
"I could come back.."
"When everyone else comes?"
She could see his point. He wanted her to himself without any interruptions.
"Fine. I just have to go home and change. I also have phone calls to make." She was happy that he, at least, allowed her to do that. Bey got up from the bed, put her shoes back on, and left the room. She went home to shower and redress herself in something comfortable.
She didn't know exactly how telling him anything would help, but he wanted to know, and she wouldn't deprive him of that information. She put on another pair of sweats and tank top. She decided to pack a bag, because she didn't know if she would be staying the night.
Bey made sure to give Boris the run down. Thankfully, he was understanding. It was out of her character, but the students could use the free day from her. She hadn't planned anything for the day, anyways. He made sure to let her know that he got the suspension thrown out, but didn't know where to find Jeremy and his family.
Bey took her items and left. She made sure to stop at Chick-Fil-A to get breakfast. She was starving, and knew that Shawn probably didn't like eating the hospital food. She arrived back with the food in her hand and frowned when she saw that he was dressed.
"Uh..."
"The doctor said I was free to go.."
"But how'd you get clothes?"
"Christina bought them Sunday."
"So that means that I can eat this food myself?"
Shawn frowned. "Of course not. What is it?"
"Chick-Fil-A."
"Chicken biscuits?"
Bey nodded her head.
"Can we go somewhere and talk?" He asked.
Bey thought about it for a moment. She'd simply take him home, and they could talk there. "Have you told Christina that you checked out?"
Shawn tilted his head. "She's not my wife."
"But she's the mother of your child. The one you forgot."
Shawn released a deep breath. "Can I get one piece first?"
"She's more important."
"She is, but we've already started. I just want a few hours. Please?"
