Chapter Nine

September 8, 2014

It was the first day of school, which meant that Beyoncé had a brand new class. Luckily, they gave her the old classroom that she had the previous year, which helped with the last two weeks of planning and what not. Everything simply went back in the same place that it originated. Since she didn't have anything to do over the summer, her lesson plans were completed and already turned in to the principal of the school.

Bey did the final look around her classroom before the bell rang for the first day of school to begin. Truthfully, she hated the first day of school. She didn't like doing those activities were she forced children to stand up and communicate with the class. She always felt as though that was a choice that should be made within the student. She wouldn't force someone to speak in front of others.

She looked up to see Coaches Rowland and Philips directing the flow of traffic in the hallway and showing students to their first period classes. Her first period class was also a special class. It was the class that she received report cards for and other important things. Bey couldn't help but frown when she saw a few familiar faces that should've been out of this school.

The final bell rang, signaling that whoever came in after that were deemed tardy. Luckily, it was the first day, which meant that the students had more time. But that time was usually given more reign to the freshmen who had never been inside of the building.

"Ms. Knowles," Coach said as he entered her classroom. He looked around to see any familiar faces.

"Coach. Do I have any of yours?"

"Yep, that one," he said while pointing to one of the boys that would be playing football for the school.

"Is he good?"

"In what aspect?"

Bey studied the boy for a moment. "All."

"His grades are damn near perfect. He's a smart kid, but his attendance."

"What's wrong with it?"

"He's usually late, and if he's not late, he doesn't show up at all. Therefore you know truancy, detention, suspensions. All that can keep him from the field."

"Have you spoken to his parents?"

Coach shook his head.

"Have you spoken to him?"

"All the time, but he doesn't change."

"Hmm, well, try his parents. Don't forget we have to get stuff together for the club."

"Alright, just let me know when. I got a class."

"And you been in here running your mouth?"

"Rowland's in there if you must know."

Bey laughed softly before escorting him out of her classroom. She closed the door behind him and went to her desk.

"How many of you know me?" She asked while sitting on top of her empty desk.

She watched as majority of the hands went up. "Okay, what have you heard about me?"

She didn't call on any particular person, allowing whoever wanted to speak to do so.

"I heard you let your students curse," one girl said.

Bey smiled. "That's correct. Profanity in my classroom is allowed. The only thing is, you will not be cursing at one another. You will not be calling each other or myself any bitches and hoes."
